Friday: Kate Creedon is presenting weather on Sydney’s 4pm and 6pm news
Apologies if this is the wrong thread to post this in, but I couldn’t find a thread more suitable.
I’m interviewing Amelia Adams next week via Zoom for a uni lecture and had a question to ask you MediaSpy-ers.
When it comes to former O/S correspondents that have come back to Oz and become full time presenters; who springs to mind? I can only really think of Karl Stefanovic, Deb Knight and Mike Amor. What other current presenters were US/Europe/Middle East correspondents prior to their current roles?
Thanks in advance.
Mark Ferguson was London correspondent at Nine from 1992 - 1997.
Would Peter Stefanovic count considering he was Europe Correspondent before he became Weekend Today and now First Edition host?
Michael Usher was in Nine’s US Bureau
While both are more commonly used as domestic reporters and only occasionally do fill-in presenting on bulletins, Mark Burrows and Hugh Riminton can be added to the examples already provided.
Brett McLeod is similar as a regular fill in for Melbourne bulletins but does three days a fortnight on Afternoon News in Melbourne, formerly a European correspondent for Nine.
…and has worked in Nine’s European bureau, too.
Friday (03.07.2020): Andrew Lofthouse is anchoring solo in Brisbane.
Leila McKinnon could be added to the list, as she was US correspondent in 2006 and returned to present Nine Morning News, host Weekend Today and fill in on A Current Affair.
Christine Spiteri was also a US correspondent and returned to present National Nine News bulletins.
Tom Steinfort returned from London into the Weekend Today hosting position.
Anna Coren (who is now with CNN) was a former U.S. correspondent for Seven, and on her return to Australia was made permanent presenter of the East Coast Today Tonight program.
Brett McLeod is presenting First at Five News and 6pm in Melbourne this weekend, filling in for Alicia Loxley who is on holidays.
Saturday (04.07.2020) - Sunday (05.07.2020): Samantha Heathwood is presenting in Brisbane again this weekend.
Saturday: Kate Creedon is presenting Sydney’s weather
Elizabeth Creasy now does weather on weekends in Perth.
Thanks guys. This really helps. The reason for my request is due to the uncommon nature of Amelia’s correspondence roles. I find it interesting that Amelia, somewhat uniquely, became a O/S reporter AFTER she was an anchor of several daytime bulletins. I won’t bore you guys/go off track any more for this thread though.
Thanks again for the help.
Hope the interview goes well.
Sunday-Thursday: Georgie Gardner is presenting in Sydney this week
Natalia Cooper presenting weather for the next few weeks
I’d imagine that GG will be presenting Sydney’s 6pm news for all of this week, Peter Overton usually has at least one full week off air during the July NSW school holidays.
Whether or not it’s a contract clause (along with “six weeks off over Summer”) I couldn’t say for sure, but it does happen just about every year…
