Even better that she wasn’t one of the three in red!
Can only think what kind of meltdown Amber might have had this time.

Those days are well over I think. Just aren’t enough resources.
It astounds me to hear stories of how much used to be thrown at news. I remember a veteran of the industry telling me that back in the days, it wouldn’t be unusual to have five staff from one newspaper at a press conference: a senior journalist for the daily paper, an accompanying cadet, a photographer for the daily, a Sunday paper journalist and a Sunday photographer.
I remember reading how in the late 80s (I think), Network TEN sent a reporter from every state to Canberra to cover a state premiers conference (or something like that).
Makes sense, would be state political editors just trailing their respective premiers. I’d think it would still happen today in a COAG meeting.
I think federal politics has probably the best staffing of any particular round. TVs have multiple journos in Canberra each. I know Fairfax have combined the federal teams of The Age and SMH, but News Corp to my knowledge have still separate federal reporters for each masthead based in Canberra, and two or three federal politics reporters back in their states.
I should have added that they were the only network to do that, Seven and Nine only had their Canberra corespondent cover it.
State politics reporting was one of Ten’s great strengths back in those days. They always went the extra mile. In NSW they had the best state politics roundsman ever seen on Sydney television. I still miss Paul Mullins.
“Max Rowley speaking…”
With Jayne Azzopardi outrating Michael Usher by nearly 40k on AFL Grand Final night, surely she deserves to be positioned as Nine News Sydney’s 3rd in-line presenter (particularly after she returns from maternity leave next year) instead of Mark Burrows?
Peter Overton is currently on holidays.
The NSW school holidays are now on, so there’ll probably other presenters of Sydney-based news and current affairs programs doing the same this week.
Although if Pete’s back next Sunday for the NRL Grand Final bulletin (he missed last year’s), I wonder if he’ll wear a Roosters-coloured tie?
Get excited. It’s Mark Burrows tonight.
Sunday 29 September-
@SydneyCityTV
Erin Molan presented sport in Sydney.
I’m fairly certain Jonathan Uptin will wear one in Brisbane next Sunday.
Monday 30 September & Tuesday 1 October-
Airlie Walsh is presenting Early News.
Monday 30 September-
Lizzie Pearl is presenting Morning News and Afternoon News in Sydney.
With Deb Knight also on holidays it seems Mark Burrows will be presenting Sunday to Thursday and Jayne Azzopardi presenting Friday and Saturday in Sydney this week.
At the risk of being criticised by those forum members who seem to defend every presenter decision made by Nine News Sydney no matter what, I personally think Simon Hobbs should’ve done more to keep at least one (preferably both but let’s not go there again) of Georgie Gardner or Deborah Knight as Sydney news exclusives. Not utilising Sophie Walsh’s presenting talents on a more regular basis before she moved to the European bureau was also a major fail, I think.
If last night’s ratings were anything to by (Ferguson outrated Burrows by 26k across the hour), Seven could be in with a chance to win their first ratings week of 2019 with their main newsreader on-board. Tonight’s figures will be interesting, especially with the 6.30pm results.
While it’ll be good to see Jayne again this Friday/Saturday night (presuming that she’ll be on then, of course), how long will it be until the powers that be are finally going to trust her as a fill-in presenter on Sunday-Thursday bulletins? The most recent results tend to suggest that Jayne Azzopardi is more popular with Sydney viewers than Michael Usher even on AFL Grand Final night, so surely she’d also be able to hold her own against Mark Ferguson?
Monday 30 September-
Alicia Loxley is presenting in Melbourne with Clint Stanaway presenting sport.
Europe Correspondent Amelia Adams is back from holidays.
Gee, Peter Overton has aged terribly since having a short break! He didn’t have grey hair when he was presenting last week.
Luke Bradnam presenting weather in Brisbane tonight.
