Not sure a live cross to the Brisbane newsroom was warranted for this story in the Late News.

Better than nothing I guess?

Probably had a reporter on duty in Brisbane, in lieu of any other developing stories to talk about this was the best they could come up with. Agree it does seem rather pointless.

Given the news that Seven have scrapped The Latest (and will reportedly launch something else in it’s place) wonder how this fares for say 9’s Late News - will they be reconsidering this?

Maybe look to do it differently, or more cost effectively?

Isn’t it done the majority of the time by the Perth 6pm crew? Would be some costs in reporters staying back late for live crosses, etc.

Maybe they’ll shorten it to a 30 minute news summary? Or maybe they’ll try to revive the old Nightline format?

I think it’ll stay, at least for now. With 10 now doing a late news I think 9 will want to continue to compete. I don’t think it’s that expensive, being done from Perth most nights.

That’s… literally what it is now.
