These presenters also fulfill other duties like 4pm QLD news and Weekend Today weather duties. Luckily for NTD, they show Sydney’s 4pm News on weekdays so no double ups for the viewers.

Has Paul Murphy left? He’s been away for a while now. Possibly read the news from Darwin? Surely it can’t be good for the viewer to have this revolving door of presenters.
Given Nine didn’t invest into election coverage for NT it seems local presentation is not an option.
I think it’s clear now that Nine Darwin has the bulletin because it looks good for them, it’s done very cheaply with only 2 reporters on the ground, and make’s use of excess reporters, producers and crew in Brisbane.
Why not? It’s currently done as a single screen setup - I thought Darwin also had this atm based on the above caps? Just hire a local to read it.
Would be good to see Nine give Darwin a place on 9Now. Still no local streams or catch up for local news. It seems absurd there is no platform to offer local advertisers a option on 9Now considering its O&O.
They’ve done local updates from the Darwin studios, so there is no reason why they can’t do it from Darwin. I think it’s just that they don’t want to pay for extra presenter costs when they can rotate with people already on shift in Brisbane. Also they would have to pay for an extra make-up and hair artist (if they even have space for that in their building).
The updates were pre-recorded during covid and edited by local ground crew like a news package.

It’s logistically cheaper to present out of Queensland unfortunately using their resources (even better with the current rotating roster). NTD doesn’t appear to have a direct satellite/fibre link from the new office or the technology to present a full scale bulletin from the NT anymore.
NTD would’ve had to fight for the format they have now so Darwin is even lucky to have local news.

Bianca Wylie has joined the Darwin team from Nine News Queensland, potentially a maternity leave cover or filling in the gaps.
She was filing reports from QTQ studio over the past couple months but now she’s on the ground in NT.
Side note - Nine seems to have merged Darwin with their national social media team. A quick scroll of the page shows 85% of the content is national content
Darwin are hiring a couple of roles at the moment, Exec Producer (am surprised they have one) for a parental leave contract and a full time journalist.

Correct - TBH I thought she actually left, but just looked up and she is now the Executive Producer.

Not sure if anyone has noticed but long-term TV veteran David Richardson has randomly joined Nine News Darwin recently as the Executive Producer.
He recently lashed out at Nine for axing him on Under Investigation.
Would this be the same David Richardson who was once a reporter on Today Tonight?
