MELBOURNE LORD MAYOR DEBATE
Tuesday, October 22 at 4pm on Channel 9 and 9Now
9News Melbourne will host the first live televised debate between the leading candidates in the race for Lord Mayor of Melbourne, ahead of the highly anticipated Melbourne City Council election. The debate will be broadcast live on Channel 9 and 9Now at 4.00pm on Tuesday, October 22.
Moderated by 9News Melbourne anchors Alicia Loxley and Tom Steinfort, the debate will offer viewers a unique opportunity to see the candidates in action as they outline their visions for the future of Melbourne.
Confirmed participants include current Lord Mayor Nick Reece, former Deputy Lord Mayor Arron Wood, former AFL star Anthony Koutoufides and Greens candidate Roxane Ingleton.
As the election, conducted by postal vote this month, draws near, the debate promises to provide crucial insights into the candidates’ positions on key issues such as the city’s economic recovery, public transport, rates, bike lanes, graffiti and homelessness.
With Melbourne at a crossroads, this election has been described as one of the most closely watched in recent memory, with the future of the city resting in the hands of these candidates.
Don’t miss this important moment in Melbourne’s political landscape. Tune in live on Channel 9 or stream on 9Now to witness the debate that could shape the future of our great city.
Love the relevance to like 2.7% of the state.
That breaking graphic is really nice, the white globe with red outline & text.
What are we looking at?
The backdrop. Live cam
Okay well a little more detail in the post wouldn’t go astray.
Usually they use the other backdrop (from Nine’s North Sydney) but have used the 6pm one this afternoon.
The rooftop cam they normally use is also live.
If I had to guess, they are probably not wanting to have the incident on the bridge visible on the screen for the whole broadcast.
Again what’s the relevance?
Especially since only people who actually live in the CBD area will be able to vote, unlike the Brisbane City Council.
In saying that however, I’d say that since it’s the CBD, there would also be some interest in events, projects organised by the council.
