Nine News Content and Appearance (2020-Feb 2025)

For Melbourne especially, you wouldn’t want new set of presenters and graphics on night one. Too much of a change at once.

The annual tradition of relaunching the news graphics every leap year it seems. Knew this would happen.

Not really annual

Quadrennial, I think.

While that is mostly true, there have been times when Nine has relaunched its news graphics in a non-leap year, but still an Olympic year nonetheless (notably in 2006, when Nine dropped the dots from its logo and placed the 9 into a blue box, as well as a semi-major relaunch of the on-air supers in 2014).

But to get my point across, Nine’s current news graphics were launched in January 2020, just before COVID was declared a pandemic. The last major relaunch prior to that was in September/October 2016, with Perth the first market to get the current set, coinciding with its move to their current studios.

Returning the globe. I find the current look a bit cartoonish, so certainly welcome this change.

That is a fantastic promo and those graphics look sooooo good. I can’t wait to see this.

Really happy to see the return of the globe (and seemingly localisation) again!

Seems like they’ve gone for a paired-back look of the 2016 graphics combined with the pre-2016 globe. I will always prefer the horizontal logo over the stacked version.

Wow! These graphics look amazing!! Can’t wait to see them rolled out. I agree, we need to see a return to localism and the city name used more in the graphics.

Great promo, but it doesn’t make me like Tom very much. The shots of Alicia over the years (In Victoria) build great credibility, contrasted with shots of Tom all over the world don’t hit the same.

Those graphics on the other hand, my god roll them out ASAP!

For those wondering, the song used in the promo is “Here” by Tom Grennan, which was also used on Sunrise promos earlier this year.

Not a fan of the pop music. Pretty sure Sunrise has used the song previously, to give context.

The light logo and font reminds me of 2008

This is the music

I wish they had a standard template that could be adapted for Today and Today Extra.
