Nine Network - Programs and Schedules (2015- Apr 2025)

Well considering it’s the Melbourne city fireworks… I imagine if someone from melbourne was sent to Sydney to cover those people would be losing their minds.

Mine was more that I didn’t know she was a melbourne resident and if not, it’s interesting to have had her flown here to host it when you’re using staff out of the local newsroom which is the norm.
Especially considering the tight COVID protocols in the state based newsrooms.

Calm ya pantries mate.

IIRC she’s living in country Victoria these days. Maybe not Melbourne born, but she’s been in Victoria since getting married. I need to get out more after knowing the personal facts of media personalities :stuck_out_tongue:

I think she is a Melbourne resident. (Well in Victoria)

Boom tish.

And there we go. Didn’t need to become some debate @yellow_sock it was a question and it’s rare to see her host things outside of Getaway let alone local programs so…. :man_shrugging:t2:

On the other stuff it’s clear a lot of this is pre recorded, some of the city shots are sunsets and the Tony Jones ones were filmed in full daylight.

Beautiful to have Pete Smith do the year that was

And i answered, does it matter? Happy new year!

Well not really you made it a debate and didn’t answer. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Ah well

Melbourne ring in Charlie Pickering hosting Sydney’s fireworks tonight. I don’t intend to lose my mind but I may write a strongly worded letter to Ita insisting on Sydney talent next year.

Catriona is raising her family on a farm in regional Victoria but grew up in Sydney. Can we give her a pass?

I honestly don’t care where a presenter’s originally or presently hails from as long as they do a good job in the end.

I have no issue with her hosting, just to me seemed like a surprising choice to who would normally host as I thought she was a Sydney personality, but it totally makes sense.

New year message from the great man Hitchy coming up!

She use to be the go to women back in the late 90s / early 2000 for live broadcasts. Nine would use her a lot for things like this. I remember her filling in a number of times on Mornings with KK.

God Hitch is such a good sport.

I didn’t see any problem with Catriona, even if the choice was initially strange. It’s surely no different to (e.g.) Carols by Candlelight with two Sydney-based personalities hosting (as they’re from a networked show). Same for all networks networked programming including sport events, if Sydney-siders or Melburnians present them.

There are many, many examples, currently and dating back decades.

Very nice to see Australian content (even if some are repeats) in primetime during Summer. 10 should take some note (for their December schedule).

The Green Planet starts on the BBC this Sunday (January 9) and has five episodes.

Here is the BBC trailer:

I think it will debut on Nine the week after Australian Open tennis.
