Seven would be loving this, probably won’t be loving things from Saturday onwards though

Seven management will probably go into hiding from tomorrow while they get smashed for the next two weeks. Wouldn’t be surprised if Nine News even wins across the two weeks in Adelaide and Perth - they’ve both already taken a hit in the lead up to the games this week (although Nine Adelaide haven’t gone up that much).

@TV.Cynic How did Nine Perth and Nine News Perth go during London 2012?

It’s not comparable as the landscape is completely different…

It actually is - when one network has had the Olympics, the other usually gets smashed.

@Sully Tried looking on TV Tonight for the data - but seems to have been removed

Lol surely you’re trolling yeah? We are talking 2012 when networks were getting 2 million a night as the base for news?

You’re comparing a time when paper newspapers still were primary and online digital news was only starting to break ground. Nine didn’t have Olympics across multi channels. News was also 30 mins back then as well…

Again the landscape is different. Today it’s reach as well so good luck comparing :joy::wink:

Nine News won in Perth on Day 1 but Seven won every other night, mostly quite easily. Bulletins then were 30 minutes. This time Nine’s will be 30 in Perth with Seven’s still 60 minutes.

After a week in Paris, Nine Entertainment’s chief executive, Mike Sneesby, will be back at work on Wednesday just as 500 of his journalists return to the newsroom after a five-day strike.

Sneesby spent a week at the Olympics in Paris where he entertained sponsors and clients, as well as carrying the Olympic torch in the run-up to the games. Nine paid $305m for the exclusive rights to the next five games, from Paris in 2024 to Brisbane in 2032.
Guests of Nine Entertainment’s corporate hospitality included the powerful sporting executive Peter V’landys, who is both the Australian Rugby League Commission chair and Racing NSW chief executive. The Sydney Morning Herald has a multimillion-dollar deal with Racing NSW to print the form guide.

Also in Paris at Nine’s expense was the NRL’s chief executive, Andrew Abdo. Channel Nine is three years into a five-year deal, worth $115m a year, for the broadcast rights to the NRL.
