Nine’s back up transmitter is already at Artarmon, so guessing it would become the primary transmitter. Presumably the Willoughby transmitter would be installed at Gore Hill. Though just guessing.
Nine has joined the ABC and Nova as media partners of this year’s Melbourne International Comedy Festival, while The Age (now owned by Nine) also returns as official newspaper after a decade’s absence, replacing Herald Sun. The new sponsorship means Nine may show a couple of events from the festival, which runs from March 25 to April 19.
Nine haven’t transmitted out of Willoughby as a main site for 5 or more years now (probably closer to 10 years), Artarmon is already main site, Willoughby is backup.
The new backup site hasn’t been chosen yet, there’s a few options, currently Gore Hill is not the No.1 option for the 7 & 9 backup TX site.
That’s interesting, I would have thought they (Artarmon and Gore Hill) were the only 2 options. Or could they put it on top of a high rise at Chatswood or North Sydney? They probably won’t be able to go far without causing reception issues.
Ashes despite exclusivity were not profitable for Nine. They didn’t get the revenue. Luckily they didn’t mount their own coverage over there then it would’ve been even more of a loss.
It would be a shame for no Ashes on free to air into the future.
