Nine Entertainment Co

Is the head of sports programming now based in Melbourne?

No, I think he is still based in Sydney.

As expected, I guess, Nine is spending a lot of money to move from Willoughby, the Sydney CBD and Pyrmont to North Sydney. I found these via Google.

Do we know when the Nine TX is being moved to Artarmon?

Sad that the Artarmon Triangle will be no more.

Nine’s back up transmitter is already at Artarmon, so guessing it would become the primary transmitter. Presumably the Willoughby transmitter would be installed at Gore Hill. Though just guessing.

Yes, it will just be the Artarmon - Gore Hill Straight Line.
Not very exciting at all.

Nine has joined the ABC and Nova as media partners of this year’s Melbourne International Comedy Festival, while The Age (now owned by Nine) also returns as official newspaper after a decade’s absence, replacing Herald Sun. The new sponsorship means Nine may show a couple of events from the festival, which runs from March 25 to April 19.

So broadcasting standup shows?

That’s possible. If you go through the shows at the MICF website you will notice some performances will be filmed.

Nine haven’t transmitted out of Willoughby as a main site for 5 or more years now (probably closer to 10 years), Artarmon is already main site, Willoughby is backup.

The new backup site hasn’t been chosen yet, there’s a few options, currently Gore Hill is not the No.1 option for the 7 & 9 backup TX site.

That’s interesting, I would have thought they (Artarmon and Gore Hill) were the only 2 options. Or could they put it on top of a high rise at Chatswood or North Sydney? They probably won’t be able to go far without causing reception issues.

I can’t answer that yet, as nothing has been decided & confidentiality agreements are in place.

An example of how to spin a story in two different ways.

Ashes despite exclusivity were not profitable for Nine. They didn’t get the revenue. Luckily they didn’t mount their own coverage over there then it would’ve been even more of a loss.

It would be a shame for no Ashes on free to air into the future.
