Restructing & downsizing… Covid being blamed. Pretty tough.
The Racing Industry Transition Agency (RITA) announced recently that, as part of the changes impacted by Covid-19 and after the cancellation of all domestic racing in March, Trackside Radio has ceased transmission following its suspension.

BREAKING NEWS
The radio arm of MediaWorks is meeting with staff today about proposed redundancies.
On Monday it announced 130 jobs in its sales and radio business would have to go as it adapted to survive in a completely changed market.
Polly & Grant facing the axe
Sad news for them and probably the end of the road for the duo.
Probably not the only local breakfast show at mediaworks to be axed. They will probably network the Breakfast club nationwide.
@Reece Does that mean More FM’s breakfast slot will be now known as “The National Breakfast Club”?
From Monday, Coast replaces Mix on 98.2FM in Auckland. Coast will be broadcast on both 98.2 and 105.4FM.
What the? Why?
Wheres Mix going?
Mediaworks haven’t said it is happening so no. The show already networked into a number of markets between Auckland and Dunedin so its got quite a bit of national coverage already so I doubt they would add national in the title.
I wonder if they’ve silently killed off Mix, given Tracey Donaldson has shifted to Hauraki. A shame if they have because it’s a great music mix (excuse the pun)
wow
It’ll be unfortunate if NZME give up on Mix when they haven’t given it a decent chance in the first place. Hopefully they give 105.4 to Mix once the Coast listeners have time to migrate over.
@radio Can I ask, how did you get that information in regard to both Coast and Mix?
Is 98.2 a better signal than 105.4?
I’m not sure. My guess was that 105.4 may have been too far up the dial for NZMEs liking and away from audiences who just skim through frequencies
Not sure if that’s the case. Looking at the lasted ratings Coast is currently NZME’s 2nd highest rating station in Auckland and highest rated music station they own based on share in the city. It is the third highest rated NZME station for listeners in Auckland. So it does quite well for them already compared to its sister stations.
Hopefully Mix isn’t pulled as it has a unique playlist from other stations. Although the playlist was at its peak in its earlier years with just the 80’s and 90’s. Adding the 70’s in there made it a bit like The Sound.
they might make it a stream only station on I heart radio like hauraki has a
classic rock station on I heart
i guess with cost cutting across all media they are probably looking at everything
