New Zealand Radio

It is still publishing though.

Perhaps by the traditional definition, yes. But is a twitch streamer playing video games a publisher?
What about a Facebook Live video between my two mates?

And is it the platform hosting it responsible or the hosts etc?

I guess it only matters who the publisher is when something goes wrong. In all cases, its the platforms responsibility, they enable the content so they are the publisher.

Ian Smith leaving Sport Nation mornings later this month. (he does Mon-Wed)

He was a ‘marquee’ signing for SENZ after leaving Sky, wasn’t he?

Yep - was there from launch, originally Monday-Friday but has slowly reduced his working week to three days and seems to have long holidays/stretches overseas.

There was also a story about it on National Radio’s Mediawatch over the weekend:

I haven’t heard Nicola Wright read the news on Morning Report for a few weeks now. I’m hoping that isn’t related to the recent changes to the show. Hopefully she’s just enjoying a well deserved holiday! She is the best part of that show (and quite frankly, RNZ in general).

I missed her too but I think she was just on leave, as I heard her reading the news again this morning

Tony Johnson to replace Ian Smith on Sport Nation mornings (Mon-Weds). Good choice, he’s a great broadcaster.

S1 2026 is out.

Big news for Sanctuary listeners across New Zealand. CEO Luke Weston joins us to announce that Sanctuary will be ending its broadcast on the AM parliamentary network on 31 July 2026

Very sad, usually those stations come in to Bowral, especially 657 Wellington via Skywave. I do wonder what they would full the spare time when Parliament is not in session with?

His wording is midnight when the date changes to 1 August.

Rather odd dynamic as the network is top 5 in Wellington but not elsewhere.

ZM has always had a strong base in Wellington, I think owing to the fact that its breakfast show used to come from there and was perceived as a local show even when it went to network (Polly and Grant).

Hopefully something more secular.
