Hey gang can someone tune in tonight and tell me if the news tonight (Studio) sounds tinny or whether it’s just me?
Even the news breaks have sounded tinny.
Thanks.
Ok I’ve checked around. They’ve got issues.
Very quiet on the news, tinny sound. Ad breaks normal and quality of sound is fine.
Prime7 News is booming. NBN you can barely hear.
The sooner they move the better.
Yes. Watching on the Gold Coast. Definitely some issues.
It’s odd.
Yes, Newcastle sounds tinny, but it’s nowhere near as noticeable on Central Coast.
Maybe only slightly tinny.
Pre-recorded Central Coast sport is sounding okay.
Are your Mid North Coast windows tinny too?
Hmm. The Pre-recorded studio bits for the Gold Coast sound terrible but the live parts are fine. Looks like whatever issue they had was fixed before 6pm.
Mid north is terrible and my parents say the same issue there in Newcastle.
Yep, it sounded a little funny & thin. Levels we’re ok but yes something was weird about it. I have the New England feed BTW
The problem was down stream from NBN. Was only on HD channel. Should be okay now.
Thank you mate!
Does the NBN News feed go back down to Sydney to be played out of NPC as well?
why would they sent it all the way down there to send it back up this way??
if thats the case that is.
Because their play out systems were moved there last year, as Nine owns NBN.
would it not just be easier to send it by fixed point-to-point to Newcastle form Sydney then keep going up the state?
That’s not how television works. Ads and programming are inserted in Sydney so signal is patched from NBN Newcastle to NPC who then distribute the feeds for sub markets.
well how do Newcastle recive the feed then?
How do viewers get to watch NBN News in Newcastle? The studio output and pre records (for other sub markets) would be sent down an internal line at NBN to NPC in Sydney and then distributed back to Newcastle for viewers at home via Mt Sugarloaf or a translator. There would be a few seconds delay.
NBN used to do this themselves up until recently.
how does this work is what i’m asking
Probably best asking on a technical topic in Mediaspy. This is the NBN News thread.
sure thing
