U2 have dropped a new song called “Atomic City”. It’s their first new song for quite some time.

Kylie’s LP Tension has debuted at #1 in the UK selling 53,237 copies made up of 20,168 CD’s, 19,159 vinyl, 4,825 cassettes, 5,122 digital & 3,963 streaming sales

I saw her CD is $28 at JB. New CDs seem to be more expensive than they used to be too.

That’s just JB price gouging which they tend to do with certain artists, Most new CDs are $19.99

It will probably drop to $19.99 in a few weeks. That’s what they usually do.

Seems as though the Ed Sheeran bubble has finally burst with his latest album Autumn Variations dropping from #1 to #31 on the ARIA charts in its second week. There have been no hit singles off the album either. This is after Subtract left the charts after only 11 weeks earlier in the year.

Although Muse’s recent music was nowhere to be heard on radio last year, its latest album Will of the People debuted at number one on the ARIA Albums Chart, then plummeted to #49 the following week before bombing out altogether the week after that.

This year, U2’s “Songs of Surrender” debuted at #3 in March, then bombed out altogether; the same thing happened with Maisie Peters’ second studio album “The Good Witch” (debuted at #4 in June).

Speaking of U2, its latest song “Atomic City” is still nowhere to be seen in the ARIA Top 50, despite getting some radio airplay on Triple M this week.

But here’s one record you might never have heard of, or can barely remember: in 2002, Francesca Belperio (sister of Scandal’Us singer Anna Belperio) released a single called “Way of the World”, which debuted at #3 on the ARIA Singles Chart, then bombed out altogether the following week.

Charts are just so fickle and meaningless now

Back in the day when they were solely measured via record shop sales, a Top 10 debut would pretty much guarantee you at least 5-6 more weeks in the Top 40.

Another thing

While Bebe Rexha had one of the biggest hits of last year, her sophomore album (titled “Bebe”) has failed to even chart on the ARIA Albums Chart despite yielding over 1B streams on all of its tracks combined.

Conversely, Ava Max (who has pretty much disappeared from the conscience of Australian music fans in recent years) had her sophomore effort (Diamonds & Dancefloors) peak at #31 on the same chart, even though not one single song on it charted on the Singles Chart.

I guess the pre-orders over a few weeks help a single or album debut in the top 10 but maybe that’s the extent of the interest so they quickly drop in the next couple of weeks.

Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show showed a clip of Troye Sivan in his first television appearance on Australian television at the Telethon in Perth when he was 11.

Watch from 1:02.

Wasn’t long ago that Delta Goodrem was at the pinnacle of Australian music (five consecutive number ones from her debut album “Innocent Eyes”). Not even her latest song (“Back to Your Heart”) has charted here.

And ever since Human Nature switched to covers of Motown hits in 2005, they haven’t had a single song chart, though their first of these cover albums (“Reach Out: The Motown Record”) did become their first number one album in Australia.

Sad state of affairs as far as Australian music is concerned. Though these days you’ll randomly hear the remix of “Born to Try” on the HIT Network.

Oddest thing I’ve seen for a while.

Normally I’d call this a car alarm.
