Pretty sad that even a children’s entertainment group can’t escape becoming a politicised issue by News Corp, isn’t it?
Yeah, fair point. We’ll probably see the other four gradually phased out over the next couple of years.

They need more colours …
Aqua Wiggle
Pink Wiggle
Orange Wiggle
Grey Wiggle
That’s probably Greg, Murray and Jeff these days? ![]()
They already have one. It’s Simon Cowell. ![]()
Canavan just gets more vile every time he speaks.
A controversial Coalition senator has launched an attack on children’s entertainment group The Wiggles for adding four new racially diverse characters to its line-up.
Matt Canavan, a Nationals senator from Queensland, wasn’t pleased with Sunday’s announcement. The outspoken conservative, who regularly rails against progressive social issues as well as climate change and environmentalism, told The Australian the new line-up would destroy The Wiggles.
“The Wiggles are free to do what they like. It was nice while it lasted. But you go woke, you go broke,” Senator Canavan told the newspaper.
Surely parents who decide their kids can no longer support The Wiggles due to cast diversification are part of a very small, sad minority?
Gotta love Canavan borrowing meme quotes originating from the alt-right in the US ![]()
Topping the ARIA Albums Chart with Donda , Kanye West hits the Singles Chart with 19 tracks from the project.
19 singles in the top 50.
This is beyond ridiculous now. Making every track on an album qualify as a “single” just makes a mockery of the charts.
I know we’ve had this discussion before - but what do you actually propose to ‘fix’ it?
For me (and I’ve said before that maybe we just don’t have charts anymore), I’d cap it at 2 tracks per performer per album at any one time, the rest are not counted towards the charts.
I agree that there should be some sort of cap to what qualifies as a single.
Maybe, as you say, the record company could only declare two tracks as singles from an album and there should be a 2/3 week before another track could be released as a “single”.
If they need to count downloads then there should be a separate Downloads chart. Having a track like “Donda” counted as a single and make it onto the Top 50 chart is an absolute joke. It’s the album intro track where the word “Donda” is repeated for 90 seconds. How the hell can that be considered a “single”?
The problem is the labels seem to have no issues with the current situation with the charts, so there’s no incentive to “fix” it.
Is it actually broken or is it just a better representation of how people consume music now? The idea of buying singles as a physical product is basically dead and the chart has morphed into basically whats the most listened to music for the week.
These sort of events (19 from 50) tend to be ephemeral too - a lot will simply drop out of next weeks chart - looking at the Spotify charts, a lot have already been replaced by the songs off the new Drake album
What’s the problem exactly? Is he against the Vax the Nation campaign? Is he worried about offending his fans who are Anti-Vaxxers?
I think he is worried about offending some of his fans who are part of Hillsong Church.
And the church is anti vaccination? That would be disgraceful.
actually as a former hillsong member myself i’m still on the mailing list and i’ve gotten multiple emails from them urging me to get vaxxed
He’s been completely irrelevant for so long now, hope he buggers off for good after this nonsense.
