The new season of Big Brother got off to a slow start last night, landing fourth in its timeslot with just 274,000 metro viewers. That pushed Seven into second place with its lowest Monday share since June. The result compares to the 2022 season that launched to 487,000 while 660,000 tuned in for the premiere of the 2021 season. We will have to wait until the VOZ numbers to see how many used 7Plus to tune in.

The result is lower than the launch episode of Blow Up that had 288,00 in May with that show subsequently bumped from the main channel after two episodes. However, Big Brother did better in key demos where it was 7th in 16-39 and 8th in 25-54.

ABC’s 7.30 was the number one show at 7.30 with The Masked Singer Greatest Hits the best commercial offering on 379,000 while a new week of My Mum Your Dad managed 312,000 for Nine.

Later, the season final of Have You Been Paying Attention? averaged 567,000. That was up on 511,00 for the last episode of the 2022 season. The result was higher than the combined audiences of Million Dollar Murders on Nine and SWAT on Seven.

ABC had a comparatively good night with Australian Story ranking sixth overall on 571,000 while Four Corners and Media Watch were just under 400k.
