Monday was another big night of TV with Nine’s Australian Open easily the most popular viewing option. With an Australian on centre court for the first session of the night, the tennis ranked third with 643,000 while the second night session was sixth.
The launch of 10’s newest reality franchise Gladiators got off to a modest start with almost 400k live metro viewers. That was enough to rank second at 7.30pm for a top 10 ranking and good results across all key demos.
In terms of network shares, it was Nine’s best Monday since June and up six on the previous week. That saw Seven down one to a four-week low for a Monday while it was ABC’s lowest Monday since August. 10’s network share was down thanks to the Gladiators simulcast on 10 Bold and 10 Peach not counting towards their channel shares. The main channel was the best for seven weeks. Meanwhile SBS was down two.
Over on Seven, the Big Bash managed 265,000 for its lowest preliminary result for two weeks including a poor Sydney result. That was just ahead of ABC’s Revenge: My Dad the Nazi Hunter.
Earlier, Seven News posted a 90k win at 6pm with wins in all markets except Melbourne where Nine was 10k ahead.
Some big numbers for The Chase in the afternoon with its biggest audience since November with no Hot Seat as competition on Nine. Over on 10, 10 News had its biggest audience sine the Melbourne Cup while The Project lifted to a 2024 high.
