I have to admit, there are so many shots that I like, really make 10’s Hot Seat worth watching than the old and boring Nine’s Hot Seat.

They certainly could pick even earlier episodes to fill time, I’ll give you that.

I barely even watch this show but the two times within a week that I did actually flick it on, they were the same contestants! That was an immediate off for me (and I have a ratings box).
If they were airing an extra 7.30 episode early in the week, surely it would have made sense to air something new to expose to some different viewers? Later in the year they will have better capacity to get away with the odd repeat when it has been on air for a while.

That only went out to Sydney and Melbourne due to Asian Cup coverage.
But they could have picked literally anything else for that half hour instead of another MHS.
The reach numbers tell a similar story. Yesterday’s number was the same reach as usual but the average was lower - suggesting viewers tuned in to watch but after few minutes turned off (reach = watched at least one minute of linear broadcast TV or at least 15 seconds of BVOD).

10 wasted a great opportunity by not showing a new episode last night and promoting it during the Women’s Asian Cup semi final broadcast on Tuesday.

Ooooo I’ve never heard/met someone who has a ratings box, do you feel obligated to watch more FTA bcos you have one? Do you only have one for a period of time or just stays ongoing? Do you watch 7news or 9news or you don’t watch news?
A few of us have mentioned this before - but it’s quite silly for 10 to air repeats of the show so early into its run. Especially on a Tuesday and/or Wednesday. Fridays we get, but even that could have be held off until Q2.
Hence the okay-ish reach, but dreadful average.

The thing is though, unlike what 10 probably thinks, no one gives a damn about episodes finishing on a high or not.
There’s always 15 questions every time. That’s consistent. And you watch till the end to see the outcome.
What they’ve stupidly done is stacking up big wins early, then just circling back to those.

I know this is going off topic but I got the box about 9 months ago after seeing an ad online, filling the survey and within a few weeks they contacted me. It is a little annoying to use to be honest (you have to log who is watching when you turn on the tv, otherwise it beeps at you) but my interest in ratings motivates me to keep.
I already watch a lot of TV so it hasn’t really changed my habits. I occasionally watch 9news at 6pm (maybe once or twice a week if I’m home) and more recently with the war ABC late news occasionally (and also flick the Foxtel news channels).

How do you get accepted to doing the survey?
I just saw an ad on social media (I think instagram) to do the survey. It was probably targetted advertising to my demographic/location.

I feel like 10 have done this for atleast a decade, whoever is in charge is like “Repeat it, then encore it, then repeat it AGAIN!” I remember watching Family Feud and it would run 6 days a week new episodes @6pm. Then you could watch the same episode in the morning everyday and then there was a late encore version near midnight. So cheap, saturation eventually kills the show.
