Ray Hadley’s finally been beaten and he’s pulling up stumps soon. Coincidence?
How many times was Hadley number one? And when was the last time he was beaten?
So good to see Kyle and Jackie O and their oversized gigantic egos get nowhere. Though that probably means more centralisation as Kyle is too pig-headed to give up his ‘prestigious’ job and wants more out of it.
Also so good to see Hadley beaten. Finally bile and vitriol no longer rules the airwaves.
As he calls time on an incredible 26 years, ABC Radio Sydney Drive host Richard Glover is the number 1 talk program in the Sydney Drive market according to GfK survey 7 released today.
His strong result helped boost ABC Radio Sydney to their highest share result in 2 years adding +2.3 share points for an audience share of 7.4%.
ABC Director Audio Ben Latimer said: “After giving his heart and soul to ABC Radio Sydney and his faithful drive audience for 26 years, it is fitting and greatly deserved that one of our most cherished broadcasters will finish his run at the top.”
Richard’s final program will be on Friday 29 November.
Reports are saying its been 160 wins in a row for him, last beaten in 2004.
97.3 could be where 96fm and Mix 102.3 are if only ARN would see sense. Not to mention Gold and WS at or near the top in Sydney and Melbourne. It would be so easy for them to put 97.3 at the top of the Brisbane ratings if they weren’t so pig-headed.
9.8 for 2GB is the first time it’s been in single-digit shares since S2/2004.
Across demographics, Nova kept its top spot for those aged 10-39, while Triple M steals the number one spot for those aged 40-54.
Mix 102.3 is the station of choice for those aged 55-64, and ABC Radio Adelaide is the preferred station for those aged 65+ despite losing 1 per cent of that market in the latest survey.
Brisbane is such a wasted market, ARN have dug themselves a hole signing K&J for 10 years, however they seemed keen to work with SCA why can’t they work with Nova? Move the JV to 106.9, create KIIS 106.9, K&J in the morning, take your pick of drive show, perhaps R-LT&J live then W&W from 6pm, ARN and NOVA could both sell adds for their respective networks on the combined station.
97.3 could become a smooth or just go back to calling it 97.3FM run by Nova, you could reunite Kip with Ash and Luttsy on breakfast (they are sounding a bit old for Nova these days), or keep Ash and Luttsy in Breakfast with Kip & Robin on a local drive show.
That is quite possibly the dumbest idea I’ve seen in a long time. What’s in it for Nova? It’s a hell of a lot of moving the chess pieces to effectively just convert Nova to smooth and confuse the hell out of everyone.
agreed.
SENQ being beaten by NewsRadio makes me wonder on its profitability and long-term viability and its frankly a waste of a once great legacy station.
I know MMM is second in BNE but if they ditched the bogan image they could easily be no 1.
the way smooth is crushing it on DAB+ you’d think that putting it on FM would be almost inevitable. a 10% share is not out of the question
Nova would likely have the #1 station in Brisbane if they could launch a Smooth or other older skewed station in Brisbane, especially if they were to utilise all of that local talent. In what I proposed they would also have access to selling ads for the Nova network on the JV and selling ads for K&J in Brisbane, if thats too much trouble they could just change 106.9 to Smooth
I know it’s messy but surely the Big 3 networks are embarrassed when one of the highest rating stations in the market is an AM station that doesn’t even have studios based there out rating them - does that not show the huge gap in the market? I suppose they are too busy trying to grow their Sydney brands to worry about stuff like that.
Agreed. It shows a MASSIVE gap in the offerings on FM. It’s embarrassing. Surely Nova Ent. could apply some pressure on the 97.3 joint venture to rollout Smooth on FM. The current situation is a joke.
2GB has sounded flat since the Olympics.
Ben’s breakfast show does not have the right mix of content. He seems to talk about suicide and depression every other day and dead school children. All very noble and worthy but not how News Talk station listeners want to start their day.
None of the hosts talk about the cost of living enough and they’re all multi millionaires so don’t feel it.
The lineup is too soft on Albanese. Is this due to Nine’s bias?
Michael McLaren on afternoon often sounds pompous harping on about European travel, personal finance and obscure hobby horse topics.
Chris O’Keefe will most days interview Labor politicians or unionists and again the mix of content isn’t there and listeners switch off or over.
Even the hourly news quite obviously leans left now.
What’s going on at Pyrmont? Some big decisions ahead. Start with new EPs and producers as the current bunch have been caught napping.
Or maybe the older generation is dying off and the younger generation would rather listen to music than right wing nutjobs all day long.
That was my first thought .
Weren’t they biased towards the Liberals for many years?
Aren’t those the type of things you expect on an afternoons program?
Finally a news report on ratings like we used to get. The big items - Ray Hadley beaten into third and WS number one.
Hadley also made the Queensland news but no report of local ratings
The bastards! Fancy talking to those who are in government!!!
And if you think Nine is biased towards Labor, then you are really smoking the good shit.
Exactly I’ve been curiously checking out the Nine Radio things that appear on their websites and you’d hardly call it biased towards Albanese or Labor. More like being completely negative and critical at every single nitty gritty thing. Also Peter Dutton appears on Hadley’s show every Thursday, definitely a Labor pundit right there.
THANK YOU SYDNEY!

You're looking at Sydney's #1 radio station overall... 101.7 WSFM! pic.twitter.com/JL4z1kaXp2
