Max on Foxtel/Binge is in the works
Where did you hear this?
All the talk from Warner Bros indicates itâll be a stand alone service.
Think youâre both right⌠Max will be a stand alone service, but itâll probably also be available through Foxtel, as an add-on for those who already subscribe.
@BigVic Is that what you mean? That Max will be available on Foxtel as an app or are you saying itâll be a joint service?
I really hope itâs going to be its own service.
He means itâll be an app on Foxtel AND it will be also be its own service. So if you donât have FOXTEL you can just subscribe like you would to Netflix or Prime. Or if you DO have foxtel, youâll be able to subscribe through them. (I think thatâs correct @BigVic?)
Something is definitely going on. First Netflix last month, now Binge is loosing lots of Warner Bros and HBO content.
They have a carousel of âlast chance to watchâ at least 10 shows there such as Two and a Half Men, Big Bang Theory, Friends, Young Sheldon and The West Wing.
I wonder if a Max announcement is imminent.
House of the Dragon season 2 is streaming on Binge so it is not affected, but more recent shows from the HBO catalogue (such as True Detective, Mare of Easttown) could be.
At least the second last season of Young Sheldon is shown on 9GO!. It will be interesting to see whether Max has the final season.
Delete.
It is confusing. All these shows leaving but Binge is advertising The Penguin, a Max exclusive as coming soon.
So I dunno whatâs going on?
Nope
I had a look at the Binge app and I canât see any HBO shows in that âlast chanceâ section. Sure some Warner shows but not HBO. Also a few British BBC and ITV shows that would be related to the departure of a lot of BBC channels from the Foxtel Group.
Not to say it wonât come eventually but definitely not imminent.
These shows probably arenât included in their overall exclusive deal and Foxtelâs rights are just expiring. Theyâre on every other streaming service and FTA network.
Getting closer to Australia surelyâŚ
First half of 2025.

I do think this will be a slow build up with this crowded market.
So the rumours about Max teaming up with a local service like they did in Japan are untrue. Or maybe they just changed their mind.
Iâm super happy about this.
Itâll be a big change for Warner Bros movies fans who currently have to wait 9 months after a movie has been in the cinema to premiere on Binge and Netflix here. For example, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom only premiered today in Australia and it was in the cinema in December last year.
Hopefully this changes and we get the films dropped on Max Australia alongside Max US.
Super exciting!
And the value of Foxtel just dropped.
I wonder if Nine/stan purchase Fox just for the sport content, cause there wonât be anything left on it that is of value.
Another player into the market is going to be interesting.
