Nova Entertainment appears to be streaming in AAC 320kbps now. Sounds a lot better than many other stations including SCA and ARN that run as low as 32kbps.

I am not sure what the app uses.

Here is my favourite station. Sounds great now. It seems to sound better with the direct stream but it might be just me (than using the app).

Change the “48” to “320” and see if it works. They appear to have 48kbps, 128kbps and 320kbps AAC streams available for most of the stations.

There’s also some legacy MP3 streams presumably for older devices.

Here’s the actual page: TuneIn Explorer - Discover New Radio Stations & Songs from Around the World

…stations access to their streaming platforms.

This is to be a part of what is the biggest UK government overhaul of traditional broadcasting in over two decades.

Interesting move given the industry has been actively restricting access to funnel you into using their own app

Nine Radio and SCA stations continue to be missing from Apple Home Pod devices due to them both removing themselves from TuneIn and IHeartRadio.

Free kick to Nova, ARN and ABC stations which all continue to be available.

Pure is about to close down its Flow internet radio service which was built into a swag of its devices. They will loose internet radio functionality but will still work with DAB and FM. Link.

LiSTNR ANNOUNCES AUDIO FIRST PARTNERSHIP IN AUSTRALIA WITH LOS ANGELES RAMS FOR 2023/24 NFL SEASON

LiSTNR today announced an audio first partnership in Australia with the famed American NFL team, the Los Angeles Rams, to bring Aussie and expat fans live coverage of every play, every touchdown, and every exhilarating moment from the LA Rams’ 2023/2024 NFL season.

In addition to offering live broadcasts of the LA Rams’ games, LiSTNR will offer LA Rams fans an extra dose of premium content, by featuring two hit podcasts produced by the LA Rams including Between the Horns and Rams Revealed, allowing fans to stay up to date with insightful commentary, behind-the-scenes stories, and expert analysis.

Between the Horns is a weekly, in-season podcast, that is the go-to source for Rams fans looking to get the latest news on the team, while Rams Revealed is hosted by ‘voice of the Rams’ and sports broadcaster J.B. Long as he sits down with Rams players each week.

The LA Rams, based in Los Angeles, California are a team with a history spanning nearly 90 years. The team has made four Super Bowls appearances, winning two of them, following the 1999 and 2021 seasons.

The team’s history is filled with legendary performances and players. Numerous former Rams have been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the league’s most prestigious honour. Among them are players such as Merlin Olsen, Deacon Jones, Marshall Faulk, Kurt Warner, and Isaac Bruce.

Under the new partnership, LiSTNR will take a direct feed from the team’s Los Angeles flagship radio station, ESPN LA 710 AM for each LA Rams game, where fans can hear the call of play-by-play from announcer J.B. Long, analyst Maurice Jones-Drew, and sideline reporter D’Marco Farr.

“LiSTNR is quickly becoming the home of premium audio sport content in Australia and the LA Rams is an exciting addition in this Australian audio first. There are an estimated 1.5 million NFL fans in Australia and the 2023 Super Bowl reached almost 1.7 million Australians, demonstrating that NFL has a growing fan base here. Being able to offer our listeners all the live action and two podcasts from the LA Rams is a fantastic coup for not only the local fan base but all sports fans to hear all the excitement that NFL brings,” SCA Head of Sports Content, Ewan Giles, said.

LA Rams Head of International and Special Projects, Stephanie Cheng, said: “We look forward to reaching Rams fans across Australia for gameday and premium podcast content through our partnership with LiSTNR. The LiSTNR platform provides great connection to a sports audience and we are excited to provide listeners and fans with the opportunity to tune into our LA announcers, unique insider insights via our podcasts, and great analysis throughout the season.”

The first LA Rams game will be heard Monday 11 September at 6.25am AEST as the team battles the Seattle Seahawks. The Rams playing schedule is here: https://www.therams.com/schedule/

Have had the opportunity to play around with a Bluesound Professional B400S 4 zone streaming media player that has been installed in a recently refurbished venue that I oversee. Our other venues feature Denon HEOS Superlink units but these are now end of life.

The B400S is a high end unit from the same Bluesound “audiophile” company that produces streaming players, amps and speakers itself a sister company to the famed NAD brand.

It features the usual streaming services but unlike Sonos no native Radio App support.

More interestingly it allows for high level integration with our QSC Q-Sys control system and offers cover art, streaming metadata and track transport control selection from our Q-Sys control panels.

It can be controlled via app or desktop application. All up a very nice product!

See pics below for an example of it playing Nova Nation and Soundmachine a commercial background music provider.
