Why 9 Friday nights? There are 20 episodes in season 1, as mentioned in TV Tonight’s Programmer’s Wrap on January 28.
Depends if those episodes have been produced or delivered yet, whilst commissioned for 20 eps they may not air the eps in one batch though, they may split it into two seasons to air later in the year?
Geez - immediately dismissed.
The episodes are 30 minutes in length, like the overseas ones on 9Life. They are showing in a 1 hour block (i.e double episodes). That means there are essentially 10 blocks of episodes. One of them will air on Sunday so that leaves 9 on Fridays - so I stand by what I said.
Sorry Aaron, I didn’t realise each episode is 30 minutes long rather than one hour.
So that’s nine weeks of broadcast (four episodes in the first week). Assuming it finishes in July, that will still leave a gap of approximately two months in the Friday 7.30pm timeslot before the new season of The Graham Norton Show begins.
Good to read that they are sticking to 30 minute episodes, rather than extending it to 60 minutes. Not a bad choice in airing dpuble episodes though.
Similar to what Nine did with Country Houses Aus (i think thats what it was called).
Yeah Country House Hunters.
But good they’re doubling eps rather than stripping the format.
What a random start time. You would think they could extend a show by 10 minutes to have the start time at 8:30
They’ve already extended it with 20 minutes of fluff.
Start time doesn’t matter, the lead-in does. And we’re a long time away from things starting in the hour or half hour, it’s not new to people.
It’s just a sampler episode anyway before it moves to its regular Friday 7:30pm slot anyway.
Well reduce it then and get it to start at 8pm.
Yes, we have been saying that for years. It’s ridiculous how bloated the episodes of reality shows are. Especially since the episodes are usually repackaged to 60 minutes when sold overseas.
Most stripped reality shows should be 60 minutes long - with maybe the Sunday versions extended to 90 minutes on all 3 channels (7pm - 8.30pm on the dot). But we know that it won’t happen, with all three having erratic running times on their reality shows.
I hope enough people do sample House Hunters on the Sunday, and follow suit on Friday nights.
Synopses for Sunday’s debut
Episode 1
Mel dreams of a spacious, character-filled home with guest accommodation, while Matt is after a workshop and space for his many projects. Can they find the right fit?
Episode 2
Bronte and Billy need a bigger home in the (Sutherland) Shire. Bronte loves modern spaces with lots of light while Billy prefers character-filled vintage homes. Can they find common ground and their perfect place?
The article also says
House Hunters Australia will air nationally on Sundays for two weeks following MasterChef Australia and will continue weekly on Fridays from 16 May at 7.30pm.
Does this sound a bit odd?
If 10 plans to air House Hunters Australia on two Sundays (May 11 and 18) and Fridays starting 16 May at two half hour episodes a week back-to-back, and with only 20 episodes total, they could burn through the whole season by the end of the month?
Assuming the upcoming schedule is:
Sunday May 11: episode 1 and 2
Friday May 16: episode 3 and 4
Sunday May 18: episode 5 and 6
Friday May 23: episode 7 and 8
Then two episodes every Friday from May 30 onwards.
So ten episodes will have been screened by the end of May.
Perhaps @aarontvcentral may like to chip in.
Disregard, I got my counting wrong - even if they air 2 eps over two Sundays and in it’s regular Friday slot from 16 May then 20 eps will still see them through to around July 4.
Anyone watch it from here? Was it in similar style to the US version?
It was some what similar. Usually the agent is more prominently used (driving the couple around, giving tours and interviewing them at the start) instead of just at the front of the property.
The theme music was the same, although the intro and L3s were different from the other franchises which makes me think it might not be shown in the US despite being a WBD product.
And as much as i love Georgie, i wish they got Andromeda Dunker to do it, although i assume they wanted to keep it local…
