HM Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022) -- News Coverage

I was about to comment that the “9” looks patchy, and a graphic in each corner looks cluttered.

It’s a historic (not “historical” as several commentators have said) event so it’s good that they’re providing coverage for those who are interested.

I would guess that’ll be updated and an indication 10 is showing it across it’s channels.

Nine starting at midday is ridiculous for an event that begins at 7.30pm AEST. Suspect Seven will now announce they’re beginning at 11.30am.

Is this ITV on channel 7 right now? (1:37 am)

They haven’t actually been showing this London clock much. It would be good to have the current time in London on screen permanently during the London segments at least. I’ve had to look it up on my phone a few times.

Also I’ve noticed the presenters and reporters in London keep saying ‘Good Morning’ to each other when it’s actually evening for them all there. I know because it’s morning for the audience, but it still sounds and feels a bit strange when both sides of the cross are in London.

Three has also joined TVNZ 1 wiping off it’s entire Monday primetime programming to air the state funeral live, starting at 7:30pm NZST.

Seven’s schedule for Monday has coverage of the funeral from 7:00 PM to 11:15 PM followed by The Latest. No afternoon coverage in the schedule at this stage.

I could understand perhaps showing encores of some of the documentaries in the afternoon but live coverage of virtually nothing happening at 3am in the UK is just ridiculous.

I have been watching the coverage on Sky News Regional when it has not been on 7/ 9 and the coverage has been very good.

They used the SKY B coverage after Paul Murray finished up at 10pm, Australia time. 1pm GMT which included commentary.

At one stage last night Paul Murray was struggling to work out time difference between Australia and the UK, and joked that he was never good at maths. This works for me for someone also not good at maths……

Australian EST to GMT, add 3 hours
E.g 9pm Sydney time = 12pm GMT (other end of day)

Australian EDST to GMT, we gain an hour due to Day Light Saving. UK Day Light Saving has ended, and they loose an hour. Add 1 hour, 9pm Sydney time = 10am GMT (other end of day)

Lastly, the short period where both countries are in Daily Light Savings. Add 2 hours at the other end of the day. 9pm Sydney time = 11Am GMT. (Other end of day)

That is todays maths lesson!!!

Seven continued with ITV coverage after the coffin was placed in state. Then switched to CNN. CNN started covering non royal news so Seven switched to Sky until 5am. Sunrise didn’t cross to Australia until 5:42am.

After the BBC, Nine’s coverage switched to Sky until 5am.
