Yep. They certainly wasted their money.
The blue cut through. The black is whack.

The black works better with the logo I think, and ties back into HBO, but theyâve made a mess of HBOMax/Max the whole time, it doesnât know what it is, it was upscale drama now its filled with reality garbage too. Itâs all over the place.
Agreed, first it was purple and then blue which made it look like every other service - now back to black.
Launching with HBO in the title was a pretty clear indicator that Max wasnât really a strong brand to being with, now by itself itâs hardly unique.
This is a bit worrying too given theyâre near to launching, and we still donât know pricing.
Wouldâve thought WBD had their own sales representation in Australia?
Probably easier to find someone region and outsource it. Good deal for Nine!
I mean existing representation for their business in Australia already, but yes, good get for Nine there.
The app is now available for pre order download but itâs the blue version not the black version.
I must admit I do like what little Iâve seen of the black branding. Very classy. @KICK-IT will it be rolled out to other territories?
Yes. Itâs rolling out globally. Markets will get it at different times.
Australia literally being one of the first.
Apart from the black. And the graphics. There is a new brand voice and positioning coming too which will perhaps be less immediately obvious but will show up in VO, copy and the way max communicates.
New taglines too. So far each market has a different tagline.
Thatâs not different to now where dofferent markets have different taglines
Max will be available via three plans: Basic with Ads, Standard and Premium. There will be a special introductory promotional price on all plans for subscribers who sign up by 30 April 2025, valid for the first 12 months of subscription.
You can now pre-order the app on the app stores ready for launch day
I mentioned this a few days ago
Probably mentioned because an email went out to anyone who subscribed to updates late this afternoon letting people know it was available to pre-register.
Considering a joint venture for this market was not a real option, Mr Brooks added.
âEveryoneâs looking at every opportunity but I canât stress how important Australia is in terms of our global rollout plans. Itâs an English-speaking territory, and it is a big consumer of our content â all key metrics for us (deciding) we were going to go it alone and launch in this market,â he said.
For Max, Friends becomes a streaming exclusive from April 1 while Network 10 retains free- to-air rights. Subscribers to Stan and Netflix have one last chance to watch the classic US sitcom before the day Max launches, March 31.
Foxtel is shedding its HBO content, except for anything still dropping which premiered before the Max launch, which it will keep for 30 days. This includes The White Lotus, but it will also be available immediately on Max.
The biggest thing missing from the Max catalogue are any new Australian commissions. âMax will have local content, but not straight away,â Mr Brooks said. âFirst we want to really understand the viewing behaviour of our audience and then tailor local commissions.â
Max is just 6 days away
Has anyone seen any tv ads, promos, billboards or bus wraps etc advertising it in Oz?
radio ads on Listnr - âAll Killer No Fillerâ
Thanks for that! Surprised there is not more
Soft launch maybe. I reckon last of us 2 will see a big promotional push.
