Yeah indeed. A lot of attention on the disaster that is KIIS/K&J at the moment, but I also think Gold isnāt in good shape either in Sydney.
ARN sure know how to cock things up.
I was looking forward to Gold on DAB in Brisbane, but Iāve barely listened to it since itās been available. Iāve been really shocked at how awful it is. So much talk, so many ads, and the narrowest of playlists. Itās terrible.

And Smooth. Have to agree with the comments about COāCās sidekicks killing themselves laughing at everything the guy says, often before the punch line. I canāt stand it. Itās like listening to an 80s āZooā breakfast show. Truly awful.

I was really looking forward to Gold launching in Brisbane, but the sheer number of ads is a huge turn-off. Honestly, I canāt imagine advertisers are getting much valueāthere canāt be that many people still tuned in during those breaks. And as for Jonesy & Amanda, their show just doesnāt do it for me.
At 3pm, when theyāre on, Iāve usually got about 90 minutes left in my workday. The last thing I want is to listen to trivial stories about a trip to the shops or whatever, followed by forced laughter from the co-hosts. I just want musicāthatās the whole point.
Thatās why I prefer Smooth. Theyāve taken what couldāve been a weaknessāno local hosts and mostly pre-recorded contentāand turned it into a strength.

The Age / SMH reporting that a Karl Stefanovic and Eddie Maguire show is heading to Gold. Looks like the deal may include broader sales support for the podcast too.
