Foxtel

Seeing the new Foxtel (or foxtel, don’t want to seem too aggressive with capital letters) logo on bus signage, and it just doesn’t work.

It’s a fucking awful logo. Bland, uninteresting, does nothing to tell me what Foxtel (sorry foxtel) stands for. Just a plain logo with some random dots. Shithouse. It’s been a couple of weeks, and it hasn’t grown on me yet. Kill it already.

I’m the opposite, ours will end in a few days. Have been surprised that I’ve been able to wean myself off it fairly quickly. We have Fetch TV now though and NBN got on last week with full 90-100Mb/s speeds most of the time!

I was only getting it turned on for the football season with one of their special deals but managed to keep it for 5 years, locking into a 2 year deal for ADSL with them helped but it’s got to the point now I can’t justify the cost and my favourite channel (the Weather Channel) is just terrible now compared to what it used to be.

How are you finding iQ3? Buggy at all?

I’m still waiting for the NBN here.

That won’t stop me keeping FOXTEL though when it gets here though

Sometimes the box seems a bit slow to respond to me pressing a button on the remote, even though it’s a Bluetooth remote. But then I might be trying to press the button too hard.

No real complaints so far though.

did any one els see this?

its an interview with ceo peter tong that was done a couple of weeks ago on media week (sky business)
and talks about everything from the new logo, the iq3, foxtel now and some other things…

you can watch the interview on the website (start at 0.30)

The IQ3 is so much better than the IQ2. I love the modern interface and the ability to record 3 shows at once rather than 2. Visually it just looks so much better.

The complaints about bugginess don’t really hold true now in 2017. Definitely try and upgrade if you can.

I still have one of the originals and while it is much better than when the first one came out, the speed when compared to the Fetch Mighty is like chalk and cheese. I only need to hit remote buttons once, it starts up every time, recordings don’t get missed or randomly wiped etc…

Anybody notice how similar the new Foxtel advert looks to the new TAFE advert? The ones with all the people surrounded by the changing coloured surrounds. Can’t they do anything original these days?

Hi JBar - could you provide a link to the TAFE ad?

foxtel need to get off there asses and add more channels that people want. wheres sky news UK? wheres a classic australian channel (could show blue heelers, number 96, the box, etc) a channel showing the old shows that used to be on nick at nite (bob newhart, ChIps, my 3 sons) and NASA channel?

even though i am now paying $89 a month for platnum (a deal i got though retnetons) i’m still struggling at times to see the value. i might dump it once the f1 season is over

I’m still waiting for the text or email Foxtel promised me about how to return my gear, I don’t have a chance to call them during their hours plus they’re trying to charge an extra $80 for another month of internet which they can’t deliver (I’m on NBN now) and their own emails have confirmed that I’ve been disconnected so why should I pay for a service from June 27 to July 27 which is already cut off? No call from retentions at any point either, they didn’t even try to keep me. Looking forward to saving over $100 a month now which is already factoring in my unlimited NBN internet and Fetch.

To return it, they send you a letter in the mail, and then you take that letter and your stuff to your nearest Australia Post and they do the rest for you. But yes, they should be giving you this information rather than the me on the internet.

There’s more info here https://www.foxtel.com.au/support/accounts-billing/equipment/return/return-box.html

Foxtel hasn’t really progressed much in the last 2 years. Only thing I am looking forward on Foxtel is seeing my dragons again.

Has anyone streamed Foxtel Play from an iPad to a Chromecast on their TV? I’m trying to help someone set this up. We don’t have a Chromecast yet, but on the app there appears no button to make this possible - does it appear when it registers a Chromecast? Or is this feature only available from Chrome on the computer? Thanks.

Edit: meant the Foxtel Now app, not Play.

I don’t think FOXTEL Play supports Chromecast or AirPlay or any mirroring devices.

Only Foxtel Now (not Go/Play) supports Chromecast which i’ve been using from my iPhone with some success.

Just setup my iPad with no issues. Casting to my tv.
