Foxtel

That doesn’t make sense seeing Sky News UK has broadcast through Multiview pretty much since the service began with the launch of Foxtel Digital

Huh? But you can watch it through Sky News Active.

As a full service channel.

I think the first step is for Sky News to get Sky News UK in HD than getting Sky UK 24/7

What about MSNBC? We need something to balance Fox News and the crippled (compared to the US feed) CNN International.

Balance from what? MSNBC is all American news, Fox News gets barely any views here. No appetite for it here, nor do they seem to distribute it many places outside Europe and Africa.

The right wing bias on Fox News.

But why would Sky News UK let them use it on Sky News Active but prohibit them from showing it as a full service channel?

No idea. We are all
Speculating.

Either way I’m
Pretty sure Sky News is not going to pay Foxtel for extra channel bandwidth to carry sky U.K. As a full screen channel. I’m pretty sure that ratings would
Be so low, there would be not enough advertising on the channel to pay for its existence.

I see. You made it sound like you actually knew something about it.

This interesting because it seemed to be more than a rumour last year that Telstra was considering selling its 50% share.

Holidaying at a resort that receives Foxtel.

I am disgusted at the amount of ads (has to have been around 10mins) in-between programs, in this case movies.

(i.e.) Fox Movies - one of the channels.

I get thet have to air them somewhere & one of their selling points is “no ads in-program”…

But my God :open_mouth:

I doubt many people watch two linear movies back to back (4 hours of viewing) so no one would be watching that commercial break between movies.

I’m surprised companies buy ads there - who would do through 5 minutes of credits then those commercials. Ratings would drop off massively

So don’t worry no one is seeing them. And it’s probably better to programme movies to start on the hour and half hour anyway - so the ads might as will fill the gap

i have a mate who now lives in NYC. i mentioned i was a mad MLB fan but it frustrated me that we don’t have access to the MLB network. he gave me his logon for dish and using a DNS server i’ve been watching pretty steadily.

this is the sort of channel fox needs. specialist channel that appeals to a narrow audience that is not currently well catered. the sort of audience that would lay down cash (i’d pay extra over and above the sports pack) to have it.

I’m having Trouble with Foxtel Go App in the Last 24 Hours, I was Locked Out and it’s taking too long to Buffer, Who’s having the Same Problems?

It’s extremely slow for me, and won’t load live streams either.

Discovery networks are the worst. Ad breaks can sometimes be up to 7 mins during a program.

##foxtel breaches rules about political matter

Foxtel Cable Television Pty Limited (Foxtel) has breached the Broadcasting Services Act 1992 (the BSA) by not broadcasting the ‘required particulars’ following the broadcast of political matter. Required particulars include the name of the person or organisation who authorised the broadcast.

The Australian Communications and Media Authority investigated the broadcast on 13 February 2017 of promotions from The Equality Campaign’s ‘Marriage Equality: It’s only fair’ series. These promotions comprised a 30-second advertisement broadcast on Sky News Live during a program break in The Bolt Report and a 13-second information ticker looped across the bottom of the screen alongside news headlines and sports results.

The ACMA investigation found that the advertisement and ticker constituted political matter because they sought to influence public opinion about the issue of marriage equality. Further, they were broadcast at the request of another person (Australian Marriage Equality Limited) and no particulars were broadcast. These matters were not disputed by Foxtel, which indicated that the absence of the required particulars was inadvertent.

The rules for broadcasting political matter do not seek to prevent the publication of material but rather seek to improve transparency and accountability in relation to political messaging. Further, political matter is not confined to material broadcast in the context of an election campaign.

In response to the ACMA’s findings, the licensee has undertaken to work with producers of programming and associated advertising sales agents in relation to the broadcasting of political matter, and has implemented additional compliance controls to ensure channels not owned or operated by Foxtel meet the political advertising obligations.

So Foxtel get the breach rather then Sky News?

some one made an interesting claim on the tv tonight website that the style channel is being shut down around the world just like bio was. and the channel no longer has its own web site. any body herd any thing about this?
