Media Release from SBS:
SBS World Movies switches linear channel for dedicated offering on Foxtel On Demand
SBS announced that from 1 February 2018, the iconic World Movies subscription channel will switch from a Foxtel linear channel to be hosted on Foxtel On Demand, with a weekly movie slot on the pay TV provider’s Foxtel Movies Masterpiece channel.
For more than 22 years, World Movies has showcased the best in international cinema, bringing Australians a diverse selection of award-winning favourites and acclaimed new releases from across the globe, in more than 200 languages.
Hosted as a dedicated film collection on Foxtel On Demand, World Movies will showcase a selection of quality international titles, giving subscribers the freedom to watch at their convenience. World Movies will also continue on Stan, in a renewal of SBS’s agreement with the streaming platform.
Chris Keely, General Manager, SBS Subscription TV said: “SBS is pleased that World Movies will continue as a key film destination on Foxtel On Demand, giving viewers the flexibility to watch some of the best films from across the world anytime, anywhere and on a device of their choice.”
World Movies will move from a linear channel to Foxtel On Demand from 1 February 2018. The World Movies weekly movie slot will air on the Foxtel Movies Masterpiece channel from 3 January 2018.

Foxtel and MTV Australia Launch On Demand Geordie Shore Spin Off
ALL NEW SHORTFORM SERIES GOLDIE SHORE: RADGIES TO RICHES
SEVEN DAY EXCLUSIVE LAUNCH ON FOXTEL ON DEMAND FROM AUGUST 1
Foxtel and MTV Australia today announced a brand new spin off shortform series, Goldie Shore: Radgies to Riches featuring the four gregarious Aussie housemates who made a splash on the international reality sensation Geordie Shore.
Available to stream on Foxtel on demand for a seven day exclusive before launching on MTV, the local content initiative Goldie Shore: Radgies to Riches is the story of what happens next for Goldies – Dee Nguyen, Nick Murdoch, Alex Macpherson and Chrysten Zenoni after last night’s season 17 finale.
The eight-episode series follows The Goldies’ journey on Geordie Shore, with highlights from every party, press opportunity and red carpet in their quest to find fame and fortune. From A-List events, to exclusive photo shoots, an epic press tour and a run in with Kyle Sandilands, we join the The Goldies as they get a taste of what it really means to be a star.
Stephen Baldwin, Director of Foxtel Networks & On Demand said, “Foxtel is excited to deliver this exclusive streaming content for fans of the reality show juggernaught, giving an extra special behind the scenes journey off the back of the local Aussie presence in the cast. Available only On Demand, this content play is one of many evolutions to the way we offer viewing and experiences to our subscribers.”
Simon Bates, VP Head of MTV APAC said, “Moving into its 18th season, the Geordie Shore phenomenon has well and truly captured Australian fans. We wanted to give Australian audiences even more insight into the Australian cast and their journey as Goldies. Radgies to Riches will give viewers full fly-on-the-wall access to see the perks and the perils of being a reality television star and will be filled with the ups and downs newfound fame brings to Dee, Nick, Alex and Chrysten.”
We came to know them on Geordie Shore Down Under but that was just the beginning for The Goldies, as fans now have the chance to know them more intimately on MTV Australia’s Goldie Shore: Radgies to Richies.
Goldie Shore: Radgies to Riches premieres August 1, streaming exclusively On Demand on Foxtel and available on MTV from August 8. Content is available to Foxtel subscribers via internet connected set top boxes and the Foxtel App.

NOMADLAND
Available On Demand on FOXTEL from Friday, April 30
One of the most talked-about and critically acclaimed films of 2021, NOMADLAND , starring Oscar-winner Frances McDormand , will be available On Demand on FOXTEL from Friday, April 30.
Nominated for six Oscars including Best Picture and Best Actress for McDormand at the upcoming 2021 Academy Awards on April 26, NOMADLAND staked its claim as official front runner for this year’s Academy Awards after a host of nominations and wins for the film during this year’s awards season, including Golden Globe wins for Best Drama Motion Picture and Best Director of a Motion Picture. The film also won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival and the People’s Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival.
NOMADLAND follows the journey of Fern (McDormand), who, after the death of her husband and the economic collapse of her hometown in Nevada, packs her van and sets off on the road, exploring a life outside of conventional society as a modern-day nomad.
A sweeping, exquisite portrait of the American nomadic spirit set on the trail of seasonal migratory labour, the film features real-life nomads Linda May, Swankie and Bob Wells as Fern’s mentors and comrades in her exploration through the vast landscape of the American West.
NOMADLAND is a portrait of a woman who has lost a husband and her whole former life, but in that process, gains strength and a new life. Fern finds her community in the nomad gatherings she attends, a closer companionship with Dave (David Strathairn), along with others she meets on her journey. But most importantly, as she evolves, in the wilderness, in rocks, trees, stars, a hurricane – this is where she finds her independence.
NOMADLAND is directed by Chloé Zhao (Songs My Brothers Taught Me; The Rider) and is based on the non-fiction book NOMADLAND: Surviving America in the Twenty-First Century by Jessica Bruder. The film stars McDormand (Fargo; Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri), David Strathairn (Good Night, and Good Luck; Lincoln), Linda May and Swankie.
The producers are Mollye Asher, Dan Janvey, Frances McDormand and Peter Spears. The director of photography is Joshua James Richards.
NOMADLAND is presented by Searchlight Pictures and is available on FOXTEL On Demand from Friday, April 30. The film will also premiere on FOXTEL MOVIES PREMIERE channel on Saturday, May 1 at 8.30pm AEST.
North Water
JACK O’CONNELL AND COLIN FARRELL STAR IN ARCTIC THRILLER THE NORTH WATER
ALL FIVE EPISODES AVAILABLE TO WATCH FROM NOVEMBER 2
ON DEMAND ON FOXTEL
BAFTA award-winner Jack O’Connell leads an all-star cast including Colin Farrell and Stephen Graham in THE NORTH WATER, an epic adaptation of the acclaimed novel about a whaling expedition that becomes a struggle for survival.
Written and directed by renowned filmmaker Andrew Haigh ( Lean on Pete , 45 Years’ ) and produced by See-Saw Films ( Top of the Lake , The End ), the entire five-part series will be available to watch On Demand on FOXTEL from Tuesday November 2.
Based on Ian McGuire’s best-selling novel of the same name, THE NORTH WATER tells the story of Patrick Sumner (O’Connell), a disgraced ex-army surgeon who signs up as ship’s doctor on a whaling expedition to the Arctic. On board he meets Henry Drax (Farrell), the harpooner, a brutish killer whose amorality has been shaped to fit the harshness of his world. Hoping to escape the horrors of his past, Sumner finds himself on an ill-fated journey with a murderous psychopath. In search of redemption, his story becomes a harsh struggle for survival in the Arctic wasteland.
THE NORTH WATER also stars Stephen Graham ( Line of Duty , The Irishman ) as ‘Captain Brownlee’, Tom Courtenay ( 45 Years , The Aeronauts ) as ‘Baxter’ and Peter Mullan ( Mum , Top Of The Lake ) as the Priest.
Set in Hull, England, and on the ice floes of the Arctic in the late 1850s, the cinematic drama was filmed primarily in the Arctic, shooting on the frozen seas north of the Svalbard Archipelago. The cast and production team sailed as far as 81 degrees north to film sequences in the pack ice, the furthest point north it is believed a drama series has ever filmed before.

Executive producers are Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Iain Canning and Emile Sherman for See-Saw Films, Niv Fichman for Rhombus Media, and Jo McClellan for the BBC. starring Gloria Estefan and Andy Garcia
Available to watch exclusively On Demand on FOXTEL from June 16
On Thursday, June 16 at 5.00pm AEST, you are cordially invited to witness the love, the food, the music and the fun of FATHER OF THE BRIDE , a modern rom-com starring Gloria Estefan and Andy Garcia premiering On Demand on FOXTEL.
Updated from the timeless classic of the same name and produced by Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment, this sparkling story of a family and its unbreakable bonds illustrates the surprising and funny ways the heart can adapt in the name of love. The film also stars Adria Arjona , Isabela Merced , Diego Boneta and Chloe Fineman .
Long-time married couple Billy (Andy Garcia) and Ingrid (Gloria Estefan) are surprised when their eldest daughter Sofia (Adria Arjona) comes home to Miami for a visit. But the surprises just keep coming when she announces a new boyfriend, Adan (Diego Boneta) - who is now her fiancé - and their plans for a quick-turnaround wedding and a new life together in Mexico, where Adan’s family is from.
Old-fashioned Billy is at first opposed to the wedding. A prominent architect and family man, he feels his hard-fought success and dedication to his heritage earn him the right to call the shots. The same could also be said for Adan’s equally headstrong father, Hernan (Pedro Damián), who soon arrives with his own traditions and family pride in tow. With both iron-willed fathers vying to take charge of the festivities, it becomes a prideful game of one-upmanship, as cultures clash, generations take sides and competing traditions collide, as the roller coaster ride of wedding planning races toward the altar.

The screenplay is by Matt Lopez, based on the novel by Edward Streeter. The executive producers are Brad Pitt, Andy Garcia, Ted Gidlow and Jesse Ehrman.

NIKKI GLASER: GOOD CLEAN FILTH
Nikki Glaser’s Stand-Up Comedy Special
Premieres On Demand on FOXTEL from July 20
Comedian and actress Nikki Glaser (host and executive producer of hit series FBOY ISLAND) showcases her shockingly honest style of comedy in her first hour-long HBO comedy special NIKKI GLASER: GOOD CLEAN FILTH, premiering Wednesday, July 20 at 5.00pm AEST On Demand on FOXTEL.
Taped late last year at the Paramount Theatre in Denver, Colorado in front of a sold-out audience, Nikki Glaser takes on a range of topics in her brutally-honest yet conversational style. Whether she’s dishing about sex, outlining the do’s and dont’s of dating (and how to trick someone into marriage), or oversharing about her (not-so-private) parts, Glaser delivers an hour of unapologetic and no-holds-barred comedy… not for mere shock value, but to be open about topics often considered “taboo.” Her ability to joke about her most humiliating moments as a woman in the modern world is not just for the laughs, she’s also adamant about being the empowering voice for women that she yearned for as a confused adolescent.
Nikki Glaser has multiple stand-up specials and late-night TV appearances including Bangin’, Comedy Central Roasts, guest-hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and hosting the 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards: Unscripted. Nikki hosted, co-created and executive produced the critically-acclaimed comedic show*, Not Safe with Nikki Glaser,* and Nikki & Sara Live. She is the host of three hit podcasts, including her daily show, The Nikki Glaser Podcast, and this past May, debuted her new reality show Welcome Home Nikki Glaser which is available to watch now On Demand on FOXTEL.
NIKKI GLASER: GOOD CLEAN FILTH is written by Nikki Glaser; directed by Linda Mendoza; executive produced by Nikki Glaser, Alex Murray, and John Irwin; co-executive produced by Casey Spira.
NIKKI GLASER: GOOD CLEAN FILTH premieres on Wednesday, July 20 from 5.00pm AEST On Demand on FOXTEL and on FOX8 Saturday, July 23 at 10.00pm AEST
