70th Primetime Emmy Awards

The 70th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will be broadcast LIVE and exclusively on Foxtel’s FOX8 channel direct from Los Angeles on Tuesday September 18 at 10am. The telecast will also be available to stream on Foxtel Now.
Colin Jost and Michael Che, hosts of Saturday Night Live’s ‘Weekend Update’ segment will host the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards and the telecast will be Executive Produced by SNL EP Lorne Michaels.
Also on Tuesday September 18, E! Channel will broadcast its E! Live from the Red Carpet: The 2018 Primetime Emmy Awards special from 8am LIVE.

Foxtel has cemented its place as the home of brilliant Drama with the 70th Annual Primetime Emmy nominations announced overnight.
Following the airing of its seventh season last year, Game of Thrones (showcase) led the way with 22 nominations, while Westworld (showcase) – following on from the recent screening of its epic season two finale – was close behind with 21 nominations. Comedy stalwart Saturday Night Live also scored 21 nominations, and The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story received 18. The anticipated American Horror Story: Cult (showcase) and Patrick Melrose (BBC), coming soon to Foxtel, also performed strongly.
Game of Thrones’ penultimate season received nominations for Outstanding Drama Series, with all the Lannister siblings nominated including Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Peter Dinklage in the Outstanding Supporting Actor category, and Lena Headey in Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama (seasons 1-7 currently available to stream on demand).
Westworld is also in the Outstanding Drama Series category with Evan Rachel Wood up for Outstanding Lead Actress, alongside Ed Harris and Jeffrey Wright for Outstanding Lead Actor, and Thandie Newton for Outstanding Supporting Actress (seasons 1-2 currently available to stream on demand).
The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story (showcase) was television powerhouse Ryan Murphy’s new standout for Most Outstanding Limited Series with nominations including Darren Criss for Best Actor, plus Edgar Ramirez, Ricky Martin and Penelope Cruz for their supporting roles and compelling performances (full series currently available to stream on demand).
Patrick Melrose is also in the Most Outstanding Limited Series category with Benedict Cumberbatch receiving a nom for Best Actor plus nods for writing and direction.
Foxtel shows account for over 170 nominations across its Drama, Comedy, Factual, Sport, News and Kids channels. The 2018 Emmy Awards honour television’s highest achievements in a number of fields of artistic endeavours and feature a multitude of titles which are exclusive to Foxtel’s Australian subscribers.
HBO, which is exclusive to Foxtel in Australia had a total of 108 Emmy nominations.
In addition to the coveted nominations Foxtel received in the Drama categories, including multiple nods for showcase series The Americans, Barry, Fahrenheit 451, Mr Robot, Outlander and The Tale (coming soon), Foxtel’s Comedy Channel also performed well with nominations for Silicon Valley, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Baskets, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.
Additional highlights include Genius: Picasso (National Geographic) plus Deadliest Catch (Discovery). Foxtel’s Cartoon Network and Disney Channels also received notable nominations.
