AUSTRALIA’S OWN RUBY ROSE TO STAR AS BATWOMAN

Rising Hollywood star to appear in worldwide crossover event between hit DC series The Flash , Arrow and Supergirl

Express from the US this December

Australian actress and rising Hollywood star Ruby Rose is set to appear on television screens as the ultimate female superhero, as she dons her cape for the coveted role of iconic DC Comic character Batwoman this December on Foxtel.

Ruby will make her debut as Batwoman during US network The CW’s annual crossover event between three of their hugely popular DC shows: The Flash , Arrow , and Supergirl . The crossover television event will stream on Foxtel and screen on FOX8 in December, express from the US and only on Foxtel.

The CW is also developing a stand-alone series based around the character of Batwoman, produced by Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Batwoman, whose real name is Kate Kane, is armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind. She soars on to the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an openly gay, highly-trained street fighter, primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But in a city desperate for a saviour, Kate must also overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.

Ruby Rose first entered the public eye in Australia as a presenter on Foxtel’s MTV Australia channel, before moving on to host the local FOX8 production Ultimate School Musical . After a successful career in Australia, Ruby achieved international recognition after she was cast in the third season of Orange is the New Black. Since then, she has appeared in several high-profile films including Pitch Perfect 3 , John Wick: Chapter 2 and XXX: The Return of Xander Cage .

Foxtel will air brand new express seasons of Warner Bros. Television DC series The Flash , Arrow , Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl in October, consolidating Foxtel’s place as the home of express DC television in Australia.

Foxtel have announced that tomorrows episode of WWE Raw will not be live and instead air at 1pm, due to the Emmy awards. WWE fans are unhappy with this (Obviously). I’m surprised they are not putting it on main event

Putting it on Arena might have been a one-off solution as it is on the same packages as Fox8?

A Discovery of Witches

From Thursday 15 November at 8.30pm AEDT

The highly anticipated supernatural series A Discovery of Witches , starring Australia’s own Teresa Palmer and UK actor Matthew Goode, will premiere exclusively on Foxtel on Thursday November 15 at 8.30pm – available to screen on FOX8 or stream On Demand.

Based on Deborah Harkness’ best-selling trilogy of novels, A Discovery of Witches is a bold and romantic thriller that uncovers a secret underworld of vampires, witches and demons, who are hiding and living in fear of persecution by humans.

Australian actress and AACTA Award nominee Teresa Palmer ( Hacksaw Ridge , Warm Bodies ) leads an all-star cast playing Diana Bishop, a historian and reluctant witch, who uncovers an ancient manuscript in Oxford’s Bodleian Library.

The accidental discovery forces her into the path of the enigmatic geneticist and vampire Matthew Clairmont, played by UK star Matthew Goode ( Downton Abbey , The Crown ). Despite a long-held mistrust between witches and vampires, the two of them must form an alliance and set out to protect the book and solve the mysteries hidden within.

Teresa Palmer said: “A Discovery of Witches has been such an incredible project to work on.

Bringing the character of Diana Bishop to life was an honour; she’s hyper intelligent, confident yet has vulnerabilities, she is a wonderful role model for young woman.

Like millions of others around the world I fell in with love the trilogy by author Deborah Harkness. I think fans of the book will love our adaptation and I can’t wait for Australian audiences to see it.

It appears FOX8 have moved The Flash to a 9:30pm slot to accomodate the new series, Roswell, New Mexico. Can’t say I’m too pleased with this. I hope it’s not a sign of the rest of the superhero program being moved around.

FOX8 seem to have a new on air presentation, presumably launched during the Golden Globes telecast. They also have new logo colours and animations (from what I’ve seen, blue and purple so far).

Just saw it on air. It is gorgeous.

Looks good but they should just drop the 8 already.

Time for FOX8 to add US Sitcom Speechless.

The previous look has been there for like forever!

Some of my recordings of the new on-air presentation. Also, interestingly enough, a Channel Nine promo aired on FOX8 about ten minutes ago! :open_mouth:

Does anyone know how long the previous package lasted?

Since around 2014. More here: http://m0rteza.com/?p=277

I’ve just seen that one as well. Has any FTA station advertised on Fox8 (or any pay TV channel) before?

I’ve seen a few Channel Ten promos air on FOX8 on the rare occasion in the past, but as far as I know, this is the first time that a Nine promo has ever aired on Foxtel.
