###ARIA 30 YEARS OF MUSIC

HOSTED BY KYLIE MINOGUE WITH OSHER GÜNSBERG

Two-part special on Sunday, 13 and 20 November on Max and FOX8

Foxtel will mark the 30th anniversary of the ARIA AWARDS, with a remarkable milestone two-part music special, ARIA 30 YEARS OF MUSIC hosted by Kylie Minogue with Osher Günsberg, on Sunday, November 13 and 20 at 6:30pm AEDT on FOX8 and 10:00pm AEDT on Foxtel music channel Max.

For 30 years the ARIA Awards have recognised excellence and innovation across all genres of Australian music and those decades have notched up a wealth of fascinating stories to tell. This two-part special looks back at 30 stand-out moments of this flagship event on the Australian music calendar that celebrates all that is great in local music.

Coupled with legendary performances from over the years, ARIA 30 YEARS OF MUSIC is a roll call of the heartfelt and the heartbreaking, the funny and the awkward. Osher counts down as friends and stars of entertainment share their recollections of these 30 highlights.

A much-loved and enduring powerhouse of Australian music, Kylie Minogue is synonymous with the ARIAs – both as a Hall Of Fame member (2011) and as a recipient of 16 Awards, including two Outstanding Achievement Awards (1990 and 2002).

Here she shares her fondest ARIA memories, including Ian “Molly” Meldrum’s 2014 induction into the Hall Of Fame.

“Molly Meldrum has this ability to get us all emotional all the time and, speaking for myself, from the early days of Countdown and from Hey Hey It’s Saturday, Molly has been there all the time and he has been our conduit to not only Australian music but international music so we were pretty emotional when he was admitted into the Hall Of Fame – definitely,” Kylie reflects.

The very first ARIA Awards – which weren’t even telecast – were held in 1987 and hosted by Sir Elton John and winners included INXS, Crowded House and John Farnham. Since that time the ARIA Awards have developed into one of Australia’s pinnacle Awards ceremonies, forging careers and playing host to countless memorable moments and performances.

In the lead-up to the 30th ARIA Awards on November 23 join Kylie Minogue and Osher Günsberg with a host of other Australian personalities for ARIA 30 YEARS OF MUSIC on Sunday, November 13 and 20 on FOX8 at 6:30pm AEDT and MAX at 10:00pm AEDT.

Plus on Network Ten’s TEN on Friday, November 18 and 25 at 10:30pm AEDT and ELEVEN on Sunday, November 20 and 27 at 10:30am AEDT.

FIRST ON FOX8 IN FEBRUARY

THE HOTTEST NEW US SHOWS

This February, FOX8 will be the exclusive home for the hottest new shows from the US: crime drama series APB, hit comedy series, The Mick and the biggest music awards show on earth, The Grammy Awards.

APB, the new crime drama starring Australia’s own Daniel Macpherson, will premiere on Thursday, February 16 at 7.30pm; the new half hour prime time comedy The Mick, which debuted to over ten million viewers in the US, will premiere on Sunday February 26 at 7.30pm, and the most anticipated music awards show in the world, The Grammy Awards, will be live from midday on Tuesday February 13.

The Mick brings a whole new meaning to the term ‘dysfunctional family’. Mickey, an irresponsible drifter played by Caitlin Olson, visits her estranged sister and billionaire brother-in-law in search of a free handout. But when they flee the country to avoid federal fraud charges, leaving Mickey with everything, she quickly learns nothing comes for free, because ‘everything’ includes guardianship of her sister’s three ill-mannered children: 18-year-old Sabrina (played by Sophia Black D’Elia), 13-year-old future Republican Chip (played by Thomas Barbusca) and fragile 7-year-old nerd Ben (played by Jack Stanton). Though motherhood was never in her plans, Mickey soon discovers a little responsibility never hurt anybody.

The new drama APB takes a fresh approach on the crime genre, involving the use of apps and technology to solve crime. Inspired by a true story covered in The New York Times article, “Who Runs the Streets of New Orleans?,” APB explores what happens when an enigmatic tech billionaire (played by Justin Kirk) makes a deal with a bankrupt city to run a privately owned and operated police force. Empowering citizens with a mobile app to report crimes and arming police officers with cutting-edge technology and the latest weapons, his vision builds a precinct that is better and faster than ever before.

Along with the two new US series, FOX8 will telecast the biggest awards show of the year - The Grammy Awards. The 59th Annual Grammy Awards, hosted by James Corden of 'The Late Late Show’, will be broadcast live from the Staples Centre in Los Angeles on Tuesday February 13 at midday, with a prime time encore at 8.30pm.

The final season of Grimm will also premiere on FOX8 on Friday, February 10 at 8.30pm.

###Crime Watch Daily

Weeknights 9.30pm from 6 March

FOXTEL SIGNS INTERNATIONAL NEWS CORRESPONDENT AND PRESENTER MATT DORAN

Foxtel today announced it has signed award winning international news correspondent, and crime journalist, Matt Doran.

Matt will be seen five nights a week from March as host of a new investigative series, “Crime Watch Daily” and later in the year, as anchor of the highly successful, “Crimes That Shook Australia.”

To begin weeknights at 9.30pm from March 6, FOX8 will premiere ‘Crime Watch Daily’. The new one-hour show investigates all aspects of the U.S. criminal world. From unsolved murders to must-see mysteries, undercover investigations to shocking acts of crime caught on video, the series uncovers the stories happening in America and turns them into international headlines.

In addition to ‘Crime Watch Daily’, Matt will host the third season of ‘Crimes that Shook Australia’ on Foxtel’s crime + investigation channel. Through gripping interviews and dramatic reconstructions, the critically-acclaimed documentary series explores the details and events leading up to some of Australia’s most shocking crimes, and its enduring effect on the national consciousness.

From his base in Los Angeles, Matt Doran said:

"There’s something really special and enduring about being involved, even in a small way, in the resolution a criminal investigation. With the help of an alert public, we’re seeing astonishing results; ending the anguish for families otherwise stalled in grief. That’s the power of journalism, the power of Crime Watch Daily - we’re working closely with police to solve national mysteries, we’re breathing life into cold cases and mobilising armchair detectives across America. In my 15 years covering crime stories around the world, I’ve grown increasingly in awe of the police methodology in bringing criminals to justice. I’m thrilled Crime Watch Daily now has an Australian home for viewers to enjoy on Foxtel.

I’m also looking forward to returning to Australia later in the year, to start production on the new season of Foxtel’s ‘Crimes that Shook Australia’. I’m an emphatic fan of this show, which is giving the red-hot crime documentary genre a fresh, authentic perspective. Viewers are given a rare insight into police strategy, and more importantly, the lasting impact of crime on Australian families. The show has an integrity and sensitivity that I think sets it apart from competitors in this space.”

Matt Doran is best known as the former national news and morning show anchor with Network TEN, where he regularly interviewed the biggest names in Australian politics, crime, media, sports and business. He has also hosted the The Project and anchored on-scene coverage of international stories including the Japanese tsunami, the “Bali 9” executions in Indonesia and the deadly earthquakes in New Zealand. His hard hitting and often personal investigations have taken him around the globe – from feuding drug gangs in Buenos Aires to the secret world of human organ brokers in Southeast Asia and exclusive covert investigations on human trafficking and child slavery in the Philippines and Myanmar.

A shame that this isn’t on FTA but still good to see he will be back on Aussie TV in some form

These episodes of crime watch will be 16 months old now. Matt is no longer on the show in the US having been replaced.

He is still a reporter, just not the host.

Does any one know why “Pacific Heat” & “Whos Line Is it Anyway Australia” were on Fox8 for about 8 weeks or so?
As there “Comedy Channel” shows, so I have been very curious why they showed them on Fox8 as they were showing them on the “Comedy Channel” 2 days earlier on the Sunday night.

I loved both shows but cant watch them anymore as since last week there not on Fox8 anymore I noticed.

To get people to subscribe to Comedy.

I thought that could be why, but when your showing it for 8 weeks straight & only have a few episodes left one would think, it doesnt make sense a such…

Surprised Foxtel doesn’t do an Australian version of Crime Watch Daily, given Murdoch’s love of crime!

S.W.A.T.

Hottest new US crime drama set for FOX8 this summer
Starring Shemar Moore and Australian Alex Russell

Foxtel has secured the rights to the action packed new crime drama S.W.A.T., starring Shemar Moore, and will launch the series on FOX8 in January.

S.W.A.T. premiered in the US last week and is distributed internationally by Sony Pictures Television.

Inspired by the television series and the feature film, S.W.A.T. stars Shemar Moore (Criminal Minds) as a locally born and raised S.W.A.T. sergeant newly tasked to run a specialized tactical unit that is the last stop in law enforcement in Los Angeles. Torn between loyalty to where he was raised and allegiance to his brothers in blue, former Marine Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson has everything it takes to be an excellent leader and bridge the divide between his two worlds.

Foxtel Networks’ Director of Channels, Stephen Baldwin, said: “S.W.A.T. boasts an exciting cast with Shemar Moore in his first series’ lead and a great breakthrough role for NIDA graduate Alex Russell. Showrunner Shawn Ryan and his fellow executive producers have an impressive combined credit list across acclaimed series, such as The Shield, Friday Night Lights, CSI: NY, and the blockbuster Fast & Furious films, and what they bring to the action and drama of S.W.A.T. will thrill the FOX8 audience this summer.

“S.W.A.T. will be launching in Australia in the centre of a schedule packed with some of the most popular dramas on FOX8 including Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow and DC Legends of Tomorrow,” he said.

S.W.A.T. main characters and cast –
Hondo’s elite unit includes David “Deacon” Kay (Jay Harrington), an experienced S.W.A.T. officer who always puts the team first, despite feeling overlooked for the lead job; Jim Street (Alex Russell), a cocky but promising new member of the group; Christina “Chris” Alonso (Lina Esco), a skilled officer and the team’s canine trainer; Dominique Luca (Kenny Johnson), an expert driver who gets them in and out of high risk situations; and Victor Tan (David Lim), a relatively new S.W.A.T. officer who made his name in the Hollywood Division before advancing to the heights of the LAPD and Metro SWAT.

Overseeing the unit is Jessica Cortez (Stephanie Sigman), the captain of L.A. Metro who values her job above all else, including her off-the-books relations with Hondo. Hondo’s team enjoys an intense rivalry with another LA-based unit led by Mumford (Peter Onorati), an aggressive leader who likes to do things his way. With Hondo leading the charge, these dedicated men and women bravely put themselves at risk to protect their community and save lives.

S.W.A.T. is produced by MiddKid Productions, Original Film, Perfect Storm Entertainment and Wyandotte Entertainment in association with CBS Television Studios and Sony Pictures Television.

A niche action drama that’s more suited to Fox8 than Ten. Also why is Fox8 not fasttracking it?
