Good that SBS is showing all matches but after the EPL in 4K the picture is second rate. As for the commentary, well IMO not good!

I notice Bellamy’s Organic on the LED advertising board during the match. I think it’s the first Australian-based sponsor of the FIFA World Cup. The baby formula company has been owned by China’s Mengniu Dairy since December 2019.

This blog explains the three tiers of sponsorship for the tournament.

The Socceroos’ World Cup campaign is off to a good start, beating Turkey 2-0. Connor Metcalfe scored a brilliant goal in the 75th minute after a player substitution by Tony Popovic, while goalie Patrick Beach made several brilliant saves.

USA is up next.

I’d say great start! We’ve beaten the Turkeys. Now for the US, will be tough but I’d love to beat them.

The win comes 20 years and one day since the Socceroos 3-1 over Japan in Germany in 2006. I was only 12 back then

Was also the last time we won our opening match of a group stage at the World Cup before today

So they’re not Australian.

Bellamy’s is still based in Australia. You will see the company logo again on the advertising boards during USA v Australia in Seattle.

We lost 4-0 to Germany in 2010, 3-1 to Chile 2-1 to France and 3-1 to France in 2018 and 2022

Was a huge relief to get a first game win after nearly 20
years
