It’s easy to write his comments off as some kind of spurned kook, but as time progresses it’s looking more and more likely he might be on to something (although all of the issues that the game faces aren’t TV-related and stopped clocks are right twice a day).
It’s hard to say that the A-League(s) rights deal has been a success - it can only at best get a pass mark.
And it’s fair to question whether that was a smart move or not - while it’s become a bit of a trend for lower-tier sports to take on the responsibility of self-production, it’s not going to be something that suits every sport.
It also doesn’t apply to the other major sports because predominately they’re far and away the pinnacle competitions of the sport, whereas the competition of talent in Football spreads far and wide. That said, the sport needs to live within its means and that might mean that some players ultimately need to be paid less, especially if the money simply isn’t there.
The game is going to eat itself yet again if its not careful and I doubt there is going to be someone swoop in to rescue it like the Lowy family did last time
It’s hard to tell who is at fault for some of the bad decision making. The a league was going down hill when Fox dropped it .
I found Fox Sports coverage better than p+ but that could of been partly due to the product getting worse. P+ did have teething problems at the start and their platform is not the easiest to navigate through (a league women needs to go back to being the W league) , some football is hidden exclusively on 10play, but their coverage is reasonable.
Don’t know if p+ is to blame for coverage of games overlapping each other but I preferred Fox continues coverage rather than leaving it on the post game of one game and missing the start of the next game

Just discovered this Football topics discussion thread. Always looking for a place for football related as no one I know discusses football with me (except my physio and podiatrist). My ALeague team, Melbourne Victory is in the Grand Final but EPL team, Manchester United had a bad year.
This is an interesting article in The Age about the team in my local area, Western United. Hope it works out for them better than AFL Park worked out for the the AFL and Hawthorn.
