Chaos at the Maracanã! As the teams were about to take their prematch photos, Brazil and Argentine fans seemingly began a heated fight in the north end, with kickoff delayed now after Argentina players have been led off the pitch by captain Lionel Messi. Last time these two teams played health authorities entered the pitch just minutes into the game in order to deport players after COVID-19 health regulations violations.
EDIT: They’ve now both returned to the field where a war of words between players has had to be broken up by staff members before the game will commence.
Former Socceroos captain Lucas Neill’s sad decline has been laid out in court after the ex-Premier League player, who earned $76,000 a week at his peak, was acquitted following a seven-year bankruptcy fight.
Neill, who made 96 appearances for Australia including leading the nation to the 2010 World Cup, avoided jail on a charge of failing to disclose an acreage that had been sold and netted $AU4 million into an off-shore trust.

Sam Kerr has ruptured her ACL during a Chelsea training camp in Morocco, and probably will miss the Paris Olympics if the Matildas qualify.
Sam Kerr was named in FIFA / FIFPro women’s team of the year, which also included seven England players, two Spaniards and one American.
As part of the cost-cutting measures, KeepUp, the APL’s digital and content arm which is understood to have cost the organisation $40 million, will cease to exist.
However, the A-League’s separate competition website, which started this season as under the broader KeepUp banner, will continue in some form.

I hate how they do this, just @ Tara and Erik, rather than doubling their names up. They do this for everything and it’s just such bad technique. I understand writing the name when the @ is not their name (but still then people can click the @ and find out).
