I only just found out that the 2 semi finals are on different days… Croatia vs Argentina is tomorrow morning, but France v Morocco isn’t until Thursday morning (our time)…
I thought they’d be on the same day so they get equal recovery time ahead of the 3rd place and Final games.
Argentina are through to their sixth World Cup final, after a convincing 3-0 victory over Croatia in Tuesday’s semi-final. Lionel Messi scored first through a 34th minute penalty, then Julian Alvarez scored a double - at the 39th minute with a brilliant solo run through the Croatian defence, followed by a tap in at the 69th minute with a goal assist from Messi.
Great win for the Argentinian team. Croatia were never in the match. I am praying for Morocco to make it to its first ever World Cup Final. Morocco have been exceptional so far this tournament.
as a football fan, watching the game here is frustrating. it seems like as soon as some momentum is gained, something happens and it goes backwards. the Aleague need to remember they are not the only summer sport in town
Morocco held most possession after conceding an early French goal and pressed hard for an equalizer, instead it was French substitute Randal Kolo Muani who sealed the match in the 79th minute (also his first goal for the French national team).
Morocco’s chances of a first World Cup Final appearance were over. Had this happened, Morocco would have been the first African team to make it to the Final. Instead, Morocco will play against Croatia in the 3rd playoffs match on Saturday.
This was similar to South Korea back in 2002 FIFA World Cup, where South Korea became the first Asian teams to make it to the Semi Final. South Korea chances of a 1st World Cup Final have been extinguished after losing to Germany 1-0.
Drama at the A-League between Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City. Fans swarmed the pitch at the 20 minute mark, with one injuring Tom Glover (City goalie)
Looks like those Victory fans just killed the A-league. Not sure how it recovers now. It was already a weaker competition with very little hope. Now you wonder how it continues as a legitimate sporting competition.
