FM by Steely Dan is the most logical choice for it and was my choice (despite living over 3000km away) but I probably know that they would probably play Johnny Farnham’s Bogan Slop as the first song on 102.5. Although my write in vote would be this song:
Slightly on topic, but does anyone know which ratings survey will fully capture ABC Perth on FM (not just partially)? I think it will be very interesting to see what impact (if any) ABC being on FM in a capital city will have on its ratings
It’s like classical communism: appealing at first blush but unwieldy and would also create a underclass…in this case the stations forced down below 87.6, which would likely be the community and narrowcast outlets.
I am not sure how well the Brazilian stations in the ‘under band’ are doing, though.
It sounds like Capital 101.7 FM have transitioned their transmitter from Ardross to Bickley. Their signal is permanent in Bunbury now and just as strong on horizontal polarisation, as vertical.
This was a licence condition before the ABC transmissions can begin. As was transmission power increase in Leeman 102.5 and 104.1. I’m not sure if this has happened as yet.
The last peice of the FM transition looks to be in place with the switchover in TX location for 101.7 to Bickley in place. With a noticable 12dBf increase in Power levels from previous now at my location.
With this done we can/may expect some test trasmisions of at least Perth Local on 102.5
Would also tie in with how the frequencies have been creeping back into Local Radio branding recently, at least in the metros (e.g. 774 ABC Radio Melbourne)
