Those Wikipedia pages can be updated by anyone and it’s unlikely the stations themselves have much to do with it.
They are not particularly reliable sources.

That’s true, but you would think Sea FM would have someone to update it?
Never been in operation. It would now potentially conflict with the new Breeze outlet at Childers on 102.5.
ok, so there are only 3 translators in Noosa/ Tewantin then.
The hills/mountains immediately north of Noosa should provide enough buffer and as Childers is only 1kw.
Only 2 are on air… Zinc on 100.5 and Hot on 97.9
Plus 4GY on 107.1
Definitely on air.
Ah yes thanks forgot about 4GY!
Does 4GY also broadcast in AM in Cooloola on 558?
Yes 4GY is 5kw on 558
Ok so 558AM is broadcast from Gympie but can be received all over the Sunshine Coast, with an FM translator at Noosa/Tewantin
Only to some extent - it is an out of area station. It’s service area covers Cooloola and to improve the reception in the SE corner there is a translator.
Licence area for 4GY:
Thanks for the info!
Going back to whether Gympie can receive a CHR station, it appears only Zinc and 4GY can be received there.
It’s actually against Wikipedia’s Conflict of Interest policy if someone connected to the station edits the article without declaring their connection, and even then there are specific rules for such people if they want to make changes to such articles. Sure, it’s possible such users could go undetected, but it often gets picked up in edit histories etc. (I am a regular-ish editor on Wikipedia and have seen cases of COI before)
You would think so but I have it from a very reliable source that Breeze 102.5 can be received in Noosa (must live on a hill) and they even have had a listener enquiry from there :). Mt Goonanamen is nice and high so the reach can be quite impressive especially to the south.
Probably, but I will check whether Hot on 97.9 can be received in Gympie when I next drive through there. That would be the only chance at the moment. Hit 101.9 from Maryborough isn’t listenable. I recall getting Hit 89.1 from Kingaroy in the car on the outskirts of Gympie but not sure about in the city itself. Gympie is hilly and the town centre is in a gully so that doesn’t help either.
Re the 4GY signal on 107.1 it’s ok in the northern Sunshine Coast but drops away quickly south of about Coolum.
They should then use the 4GY spacing, so then Hot goes to 98.3, Zinc goes to 99.9, Sea on 102.3 and Mix on 103.1… 4NSA could use 103.9.
It is interesting how Zinc markets itself as a Sunshine Coast station, even though the parent station is in Gympie. It sounds like one or both of 96.1/100.5 is satisfactory through most of the population centres of the Scumshine Coast.
As an aside, 96.1 (as ‘The Heat’) was my station of choice during my first trip to the region in 1998 (Noosa). They had a decent mix back then from memory.
The Heat was Gympie’s CHR choice under BOG. Unfortunately when Prime /Grant took over they wanted to use the station to be competitive in the Sunshine Coast market as overspill as opposed to the needs of the primary license area in Gympie that doesn’t get overspill the other way from SC CHR options
AMI Radio/Rob Gamble actually - prior to Grant.
Makes sense really - much more money to be made on the Sunshine Coast, and DMG had left them fantastic facilities which were way underutilized.
