Yeah, that’s what he said…although not perhaps worded clearly.

That also works in Australia no VPN needed. normally in this case the broadcast of ads from another country would be illegal.

Probably because it’s a foreign originating service they are getting around that (although I’m not sure of the specific law)

ESPN will also screen original programs, such as UFC Countdown, The Ultimate Fighter, and Dana White’s Contender Series.

Half time on ESPN. The monitor at far right appears to be the CBS in-house feed, as Tony Romo prepares for a piece to camera in a commercial break.

The Fox Sports channels in Latin America have switched to the ESPN umbrella, as part of Disney’s attempt to phase out the Fox brand. This excludes Mexico and Argentina, both of which were previously sold and are currently licensing the Fox Sports name.

This is the moment when Fox Sports 2, a pan-regional feed across the continent, relaunched as ESPN 7 (Fox Sports 3, meanwhile, became ESPN 6):

Following this is a reshuffling of existing ESPN channels, as ESPN Extra, a channel dedicated to exclusive live events, becomes ESPN 4. The original ESPN 4, which was also the starting point for Fox Sports’ Latin American expansion in the mid-90s, is now ESPN 5.

Nice to see with the baskbetball graphics that they change frequently when teams change their uniforms. The JackJumpers have more of a teal than their usual green tonight for a cancer fundraiser game and the graphics are using the new shade accordingly.

NBC Sports has reported that the sale from NFL Media to ESPN seems to be closing. ESPN is to control NFL Media, in exchange for NFL’s minor ownership in ESPN, if the deal goes through.

This may be the cause behind NFL Network’s drain in original programming, with the latest being NFL Total Access getting the axe after 21 years. Its last episode is scheduled in mid-May.

The Hungry Jack’s National Basketball League (NBL) will be accessible to more sports fans after the League extended its partnership with ESPN, secured a new free-to-air broadcast deal with Network 10, with games to be played on its main channel, in High Definition (HD) and renewed its deal with News Corp Australia (NCA) to deliver deeper basketball coverage throughout the 2024/25 season.

The marquee 2:30pm Sunday afternoon game will also be shown on Network 10’s main channel, and marks the first time the NBL has been on a main channel in a decade.

The 2024/25 NBL schedule was announced this morning. It starts with the inaugural HoopsFest in Perth on Thursday, September 19, where all 10 teams play their season openers in the same city across the weekend, similar to the AFL’s Gather Round.

Every game of the season plus all finals will be broadcast on ESPN.

Interesting to see how the WNBL and youth matches are covered, especially the double headers with NBL games.
