Are any of the Grant stations doing anything special with the fire risks on the South Coast & Hunter?
Mixed programming on ABC Local Radio in Queensland (except Brisbane which is on normal programming) today. The regional drive teams have been split to become three back-to-back statewide programs.
Local Breakfast programs as normal until 9am in all regions.
9am - 11am Nicole Dyer (Gold Coast) presenting a mostly statewide fire information program except for the North Queensland stations. North Queensland have their own joint non-fire Mornings program from Cairns.
1.30pm - 3pm Matt Webber (Gold Coast) presenting a statewide fire information program including North Queensland.
3pm - 6pm - Adam Stephen (Cairns) continuing the statewide fire information program.
6pm - 9pm - Sheridan Stewart (Sunshine Coast) continuing the fire information program for the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Capricornia, Wide Bay, Western Queensland and Southern Queensland regions. The rest of the state on regular evenings programming.
James Valentine now providing bushfire updates on ABC Sydney.
Well done to Busco at SWR FM. worked from 6am to 6pm.
Is this a consolidation of resources instead of emergency program teams for each market remotely?
Is he a member here to read the compliments?
ABC NewsRadio is simulcasting ABC News 24 this evening instead of usual BBC World Service programming.
He may lurk as a guest
95.5 ABC Mid North Coast are not taking the Chris Bath evening program tonight, sticking with bushfire coverage.
ABC Local Radio in Queensland sticking with the same schedule as yesterday - with fire programming continuing in place of network programming today in regions which have fire warnings.
ABC Local Radio in Queensland stuck with mostly the same schedule for the bulk of last week - as previosly posted about - merging teams to broadcast into fire affected regions and dropping network programming (namely World Today, Myf and Evenings) where needed. Adam Stephenâs drive program encompassed all of the state aside from Brisbane from Tuesday to Friday.
Over the weekend, looks like regular programming aside from break-ins to programming every 30 minutes with warnings and updates.
The ones I heard were Ollie Wykeham (Longreach) in the afternoon and Phil Staley (Cairns) in the evening.
ABC Local Radio is breaking into the cricket across Victoria to provide updates on a number of fires across the state.
In the North Central region, 1521 2QN and 102.5 Edge FM airing updates for the Strathallen/Rochester fire. hit96.9 and 93.5 Triple M Goulburn Valley have opted out of networked programming to present updates on this fire.
In Central Victoria, Gold 1071/98.3 is live and local as scheduled, with Dan Brewer providing updates on grassfires at Mount Glasgow (Clunes) and Natte Yallock. hit91.9 and 93.5 Triple M also airing updates during breaks
A severe storm from south west to north east moved over Brisbane last night.
So strong that it seems the satellite input of national programming on ABC Brisbane was wiped out as the storm passed over its studio (I was on the city side of the river as it went by).
However, did not hear ABC or any commercial stations make any mention of the storm. There were at least three warnings issued across the wider area.
If anyone did hear of coverage, be interesting to read of them.
Thatâs a beauty of a squall line. By God we could use some of that down here.
ABC Gippsland is in rolling coverage, with many others (including Radio Melbourne, Ballarat and Goulburn Murray) breaking in and out of national programming to air updates on the 50 emergency warnings across the state.
On ABC Gippsland, Barry Whitehead is anchoring coverage. TRFM and Gold 1242 also airing a wall of updates in between music.
In Melbourne, Paul Culliver (North & West SA) breaking into Nikolai Beilharzâs shift from Southbank with updates on the Bundoora fire, community radio station Plenty Valley FM is live with updates, while the SEWS is getting used on commercial radio too (link).
And ABC Gippsland has ditched rolling, going straight to Nightlife without notice at a crucial time. Bit disappointing.
Current emergency announcer isnât best choice either, probably coming from SA.
Shame, as the coverage done throughout the day was very high quality, even if emotionally charged and draining at times.
EDIT; Looks like theyâre doing half hour updates using Andrew Heslop from Ultimo, for Gippy and Murray. At least itâs something.
But surely youâd be better off rolling rather than fading in and out.
They donât have the brains for that and in coming years, theyâll find they wonât be the only provider as technology improves.
