Dessert Masters

Is it though? I think it’s extremely poor compared to last year.

A World Of Wonder Awaits.

Dessert Masters. Returns Monday, 14 October At 7.30pm On 10 And 10 Play.

Prepare for a sugar rush like no other because Dessert Masters is back for second helpings this October.

This season, the impossible is made possible in a whimsical world where desserts defy gravity and look too good to eat.

Hosts Melissa Leong and Amaury Guichon are setting challenges destined to make magic in the kitchen. From desserts that look just like vegemite jars, to chocolate domes designed to be smashed, and fairy floss clouds set alight, this is a series packed with sweet feats.

Imagination is the only limitation, and our culinary competitors have creativity in spades. Join contestants Alisha Henderson, Christy Tania, Emelia Jackson, Dan Pasquali, Darren Purchese, Donato Toce, Jana Lai, John Demetrios, Katherine Sabbath and Reece Hignell on their quest for pastry perfection.

If you can dream it, they can make it.

Here’s a taste of what’s to come:

Melissa was on Fifi, Fev and Nick on Fox FM this morning to promote the show. Nick Cody (bottom right in the fourth photo in the previous post) showed his colleagues the cake he made at the program launch last Friday.

Meanwhile, season 1 of Dessert Masters will premiere on U&W in Britain on October 21.

According to a sneak peek posted on MasterChef’s social media outlets, the winner of tonight’s first cook would receive a small pink locked SOS box with the MC logo on the front. The contestant could use whatever was inside the box to rescue his or her sweet creation in a future challenge.

So basically it’s a immunity pin

Why is Darren Purchase a contestant?

Why not? Wants the money? They paid him enough? It’s a bit of fun? Take your pick.

Next Monday:

Contestants are stunned tonight when they find out that they must somehow incorporate movement into their dish - it might drip, turn, float, ooze or dissolve, but it must also be delicious.

It could be an immunity pin, an extra ingredient, an utensil, or even a countdown timer (extra time) to fix the dessert.

Ah okay

Why not? I think it’s great to have such an esteemed dessert chef on the show that has set a lot of epic Pressure Tests. Last season had Kirsten Tibbals too so it’s good they can get these names and see them on the other side of it all. Darren will be impressive to watch.

I don’t think it’s going to be a pin. I’ll predict it’s something like a timer to give extra time.

Update 28/10: it was a mystery box elimination. Each chef had to create a dessert with optical illusion in 2.5 hours.

Sunday 3 November

Today in the Dessert Masters kitchen, the nine remaining contestants are competing in the infamous team relay, for the chance to win immunity from the next elimination.

The 9 remaining contestants will be divided into three teams of three. The winning team will be safe from the next elimination.

Also, Melissa was special guest on the season two premiere of Jonathan Moran’s Mental As Anyone podcast. Melissa revealed that she is the black sheep of the family, and she has lived with anxiety and depression her entire life and that she has been told in the past that people find her intimidating.

That was a very good episode last night and finally the season has kicked into gear with an elimination. Some of the creations this season have been super impressive.

When the full promo for last night’s episode first came out last week, Vegemite’s social media accounts said they were flattered that Jana would design a dessert based on the iconic spread and jar design.

Katherine Sabbath, who created a sandcastle cheesecake, was eliminated.
