Death of Pope Francis - Media Coverage

Ratings were very high for the initial reporting last night. Seven News recorded the highest rating for a news bulletin this year.

However, coverage later in the night appeared to show the ratings in the timeslots of the late bulletins well down on the shows they were replacing.

ABC News Channel had an unremarkable 2.3% rating in the metro market.

No surprise when the 7pm bulletin was so close to the news breaking.

There’s been reporting that Pope Francis’ funeral will take place Saturday. Assuming most networks will take this Saturday night 6pm Australian eastern standard time.

Yes. Confirmed by the Vatican.

Just as well it’s not 1970 anymore.

I would just start news as normal.

Proceedings might not start until 6.30 our time.

Or just have coverage commence on 7two or 9Gem. Then switch to the main channel after the news. Most people would prefer to watch the news at 6.00pm.

10 will be able to go straight from News to the funeral. Chris Bath can host.

Or maybe take the national news at 5pm then do the coverage at 6pm for both 7 and 9 Network

What about the Perth re do?

Not sure then. They’ll have to work something out or they won’t have a host and then just take a feed from somewhere.

What did he have to say ??

Get someone (Weather presenter?) to do it from the green screen room, or that new screen in the newsroom.
