Good question. Could reply with a single word or write an essay on it.
I only ask before even tho Iâm (almost) double vaxxed, Iâm still concerned about Melbourne opening up with cases on the increase. Itâs so worrying.
Are you worried for your own health, or for others? Or that it will result in another lockdown?
Probably.
If daily case numbers in NSW were still around 1,500 on October 18 youâd have to assume that significant amounts of vaccinated people are getting the virus. Hopefully things will start to improve by then but again, I wonât be holding by breath!
Thatâll be me tomorrow, so fingers crossed it all goes well.
I guess for my own health. I just would hate to be living life but still at risk of getting Covid. Knowing full well that once double vaxxed ur in a much better position.
I think Iâm just fatigued by the whole thing tbh.
How old are you? Any health conditions?
- No health issues.
I know realistically all should be fine. And I am optimistic to opening up. I just probably overthink a bit too much.
Iâm expecting at some point in the near future weâll see cases split into three or four categories (at the time of infection) - that being fully vaxxed cases, partially vaxxed cases and unvaxxed cases (with maybe a further split for under 12s ineligible to be vaxxed).
I would imagine by November/December the fully vaxxed case rate and under 12 case rates would become the key measures for whether or not some forms of restrictions are necessary.
I would also like to think that by early next year full scale lockdowns with stay at home orders will have become a thing of the past, with the highest level of restrictions becoming similar to those experienced in Stage 3 regional NSW prior to the current lockdown (i.e. capacity limits, no more than 5 at home, masks indoors and outdoors where you canât socially distance, limits on large gatherings etc.)- that level of setting should be enough to reduce the spread while not being too onerous on people and letting them live their everyday lives.
Youâre gonna be A.OK man!
Once youâve lived with this a while you really relax. Iâve been living in Spain UK and USA the last 18 months. All places with upwards of 25,000 to 100,000 cases a day. Now, vaccinated, ans with it around me all day every day for 18 months and Iâve never been sick I feel like I could like the handrails some day. With time Iâm sure youâll calm down
Yikes.
The Australian reports that Health Officials wanted to open the state when it reached 85% or near there, but were overruled by Berejiklian and Co saying 70% is sufficient.
Oh well it is going to backfire on them when it happens. Not listening to health advise has devestating consequences. I just donât understand how its all going to work anyway. With the current tier systems they are just going to overwhelm the authorities trying to ensure people are isolating for either 14 days or until a negative result comes back. As I said earlier half the state will be in lockdown or some form of isolation within weeks of opening up.
My view for when we open up in Victoria is that as long as the people that I spend most of my time with are fully vaccinated then it doesnât bother me. I know that all of my close friends, family and even workmates all are vaccinated (or will be by the time that things open) so it doesnât concern me. If there were a lot of cases I would feel a bit iffy about visiting someone particularly in the older age groups if they werenât vaccinated because I wouldnât want to be a reason they get sick.
Actually on the topic of vaccinations, just out of interest, does anyone on here think theyâll cut off all face to face contact with friends and/or family who choose not to be vaccinated once weâve opened up?
As far as Iâm aware, pretty much every one I know intends on getting vaccinated or are already fully vaccinated. But if there was someone I know who decides not to get the jab, personally, I wouldnât cut them off as a friend or family member. As frustrating as it would be that theyâre not helping the national interest, I would respect that itâs their decision.
No I would still be happy to see someone who decides not to get vaccinated. They know the risks. If itâs someone vulnerable who cannot get vaccinated it would be different. My sister, at the moment, is saying she wonât get vaccinated. She is in SA so covid hasnât been an issue yet, but I will still see her even though her views donât align with mine. She is aware of the risks.
Itâs people like my grandma who medically canât get the test. Thatâs why I hoping rapid testing is used to allow me to know I am healthy before seeing her.
I think they unvaccinated will become social pariahs. There wonât be many places they will be permitted to go. No flying on airlines, no pubs, clubs or restaurants. They will be ostracised from most social gatherings. And rightfully so. I am not interested in anti-vaxxers.
At this point I know nothing of anyone in my work or family or friends that is not or will not be vaccinated.
