It’s a pity there’s not much else on 93.7 within the vicinity. The only potential target is 2BAR Bega, but that’s a toughie as it throws most of its power westwards rather than north/south.
Koori Radio is barely audible here.
And that’s even with the assistance of some ducting tonight, making Sydney stations a bit stronger than usual.
And still weaker than suburban stations like Alive 90.5 and 2GLF that I don’t normally get here either
It it their programming & not a spur from another station? Just curious?
Yes, I had their web stream going on my phone to check and the programming matched.
For me, it would be unusual for a spur to travel this far. And highly unlikely to be Edge FM Bega as other South East NSW ABC’s are not being received. Can’t think of any other possibilities.
My reception of Koori Radio has often been poor. I’m astonished its tiny signal is travelling all the way up to you, but tonight I am picking up the weaker ABC Manning River outlets of FM94.7 & 95.5 so the present tropo lift is helping. ![]()
Still, normally it’s better than 2 Triple O and 2SER. Those two have generally always been the weakest of all the Sydney wide community stations for me.
Nothing about the Koori Radio transmitter issue on their Facebook or Twitter pages. They did have Twitter posts about transmitter issues 12 months ago. Very sleepish…
I’m just as much in the dark about Koori radio as you guys, but Koori do have 2 TX sites, the main one in the city at 50kW & a secondary one on the roof top of a building in Redfern but it’s only 2kW.
Maybe there’s an issue at the main site in the city & they are using the Redfern site?
If they are using that it’s definitely not running at 2 kW. Koori Radio is barely audible here at ~16 km from Redfern.
Somewhere between 200uW & 2W more likely.
Powered by a rubber band most likely.
The bush mechanics would fix it ![]()
And no audience feedback on either? Perhaps they don’t have much of an audience?
You’d think being indigenous and large market like Sydney that this would’ve been noticed by others and someone come to their aid?
I bet if the ABC get a yarn up on it, it’d be fixed within a week. All the do gooders who’ve never listened will be screeching to the govt to help.
LOL. I think they must still be out bush somewhere fixing something else (including their own transport to Sydney).
Holy crap- I was just thinking about replying with that comment but thought better of it ![]()
A great series. You can watch it on YouTube (episode 1 here).
Koori is back on air now still been fed from a digital radio it seems.
But still well down in power (static heard). I assume same site based on look of the multipath spectrum on the SDR.
Reception still isn’t as good as it usually is… Slightly worse than 2SER here.
I’ve been keeping a closer eye (ear) on Youth Radio 92.5 over the past week.
I can’t recall hearing any sponsors announcements or any local programming announcers. That’s not to say they don’t exist, but haven’t heard any at the times I’ve listened.
Wonder where the station gets the majority of its funding from? Members?
Managed to capture the new RDS PI code from Youth Radio just moments ago.
As previously advised, it is 2925
changes are definitely afoot for all aspects of 92.5
stay tuned literally through November and they should start filtering through
I think some of the past efforts may have been a bit overshadowed with the whole technical component left by the wayside to some extent and focus directed at branding and content only, i’ve only been on board for a few months so far but the station now have some respectable signal processing, equipment, maintenance and upgrades and even RDS (which got noticed here obviously) so things are looking up
