Community Radio

Nice font type, but I would’ve kept an updated version of their previous “speaker” logo.

Great website too.

This saddens me being a former long time presenter and board member at “The Hawk”. What would possess someone to do this is beyond me.

I agree Mechie, terrible.

Any relation to what has happened at StarterFM?

What is the connection between the two stations?

This is a question for @RFBurns is there any known issues at Somersby affecting some of the Central Coast community radio stations?

I have noticed both Coast fm and Today’s Country are currently broadcasting in mono only. Rhema and 93.3 are both broadcasting normally.

No issues to my knowledge & I’ve been listening to Coast FM in stereo all afternoon, up until about 4:10pm.

Just checked now and Coast fm is back to normal in stereo. Today’s Country still in mono and has been like that now for the last few days.

I’m working back at Forresters Beach again tomorrow morning, so I’ll check out all the Gosford community stations locally & see if any are mono. I don’t get good enough reception of them at home most of the time, either very noisy stereo or mono only anyway.

Just checked. Today’s Country still has a 19kHz stereo pilot with RDS.

weird because my car radio can only receive it in mono even in the better signal areas here.

Starter FM has our equipment setup at Hawkesbury Radio and in return we host and run the IT systems for them.
Our equipment got damaged in the same event.

We are trying hard to get replacement equipment and working on getting back on air.

The worst part the person who did this had a key to access all the parts of the station. But the police are currently investigating it and finding out who it might be and how they got a key.

The whole event has been really sad and came at the worst time possible as my Wife and I just had our second baby.
A lovely baby Girl Luna, so this week has been a very crazy one to say the least.

The stereo carrier level is higher level than normal, so opposite to what one might expect. I’m currently only viewing on the SDR & reception isn’t the best. When I’m next further north or on the coast I’ll check & report back.

Horrible. Hope the police catch the bastard(s) who did this.

Congrats on the new addition to the family. At least a happy distraction from the distressing event - but the damage is something all could have done without.
I assume no security cameras? Even WiFi security cameras are a cheap & useful addition & better than nothing.

We did have cameras but it was an older system that recorded to a box, and of cause the box as stolen as well.

I’m working locally on the Central Coast today again, all 4 community stations here are definitely in stereo & sound fine with no notable issues out of normal, I don’t have my test gear with me to do a full in-depth signal check. All 4 were in Stereo & normal in the car when I left home this morning too around Belmont North, so distance from the transmitter didn’t make any difference.
