Children's television

Calm down, mate. Bluey is popular in Australia and semi-well-known at best in the US.

Peppa Pig and Paw Patrol are infinitely bigger than Bluey will ever be worldwide.

Ranger Stacey has a new job: Principal advisor community education for Redland Council - as heard on breakfast radio in Brisbane today.

The federal government will provide $11.9 million of funding over four years, in this yearā€™s budget, for childrenā€™s television production.

Further funding of $11.9 million over four years from 2021-22 and $3.0 million ongoing, will be provided to the Australian Childrenā€™s Television Foundation (ACTF) to support the development and distribution of quality Australian childrenā€™s content. This is in addition to the funding of $20.2 million over two years provided in the 2020-21 Budget. ACTF has played a pivotal role in the success of iconic Australian programs, such as Round the Twist and Dance Academy, and more recent productions including Bluey, Hardball and Little J and Big Cuz. This funding will enable ACTF to support producers of childrenā€™s content to transition as the Government modernises the regulatory and funding framework that underpins Australian content. It will also assist ACTF to continue their role in helping producers capitalise on interest from streaming services to commission and acquire quality Australian childrenā€™s content.

Transition to what?

The upcoming season of Arthur (Season 25) will be the final season. Airdates yet to be confirmed.

to iam guessing streaming services

Seven aired just 4 hours of first run childrenā€™s TV (ā€œCā€ classification) last year and only 9 hours of total, thatā€™s absolutely horrendous, they should be ashamed! Yes they were let off the quotas with coronavirus and yes Warburton has been protesting to dump them, but look at how many hours output Nine and 10 managed. Yet managed to put out lots of ā€œPā€ classified programs (pre schoolers).

From next year, the sub-quotas have been ditched, but good to see quotas will still exist.

Also, this story mentions commercial networks will have to have a minimum of 1,400 something hours a year of local content on their multi-channels, probably the only area Seven excel in with 7mate.

It took FOUR years to find out about this? Channel 4ā€™s clocks must be really slow.

The Wiggles are getting their own streaming channel in the USA. It will be free but ad-supported.
