I know Y2K/End of the World conspiracy theories were fairly big around that period of time, but geez Nine were airing some really dubious “Premiere Special Presentation/Event” programming back in 1999 between 7 Signs Of Christ’s Return and Prophecy And Predictions: Threat Or Warning!

Back in 1999, all that Sony stuff would’ve been great prizes to win. However most of it was likely considered to be outdated even just a few years later as the Early-Mid 2000s saw a wave of new technology/media come in.

Those “huge” (at the time, an 80cm/31.5 inch TV is probably considered to be a modest size by today’s standards) CRTs have probably long gone to the tip, you might be able to find most the rest going for cheap at an op shop if you’re lucky, while I don’t think Sony MiniDisc was ever a commercially successful format here in Australia.

So many documentaries discussing Nostradamus style prophecy at the time, you’d even get ACA / TT segments about it!

More successful than most regions as a portable format here in the Late 90s - Early 2000s before iPod / MP3 Players took off.

Some of nines first attempts at home grown reality / factual type programming, both bombed big time IIRC.

That PRG from Nine Adelaide looks like something which wouldn’t have been totally out of place on TV a decade earlier!

1999 launch. I’ve never been able to find any Nine version of this on youtube. Nice song but they must have cut the promo budget during this era.

Quite a historic broadcast in Australian TV and sporting history for several reasons:

*Last Grand Final of the 20th Century.
*The second Grand Final under the unified (post-ARL/Super League war) NRL competition as we know it now.
*The first Grand Final to be played at Stadium Australia and of course…
*The first time the Melbourne Storm (a team which rugby league fans would have to get used to seeing win NRL premierships) won the Provan Summons trophy.

Live from Stadium Australia. It was called Telstra Stadium from 2002-08, ANZ Stadium from 2008-20 before reverting back to Stadium Australia this year

How did Nine Adelaide go from having these lovely, near TCN-quality PRGs in 2000/01 to these hopelessly amateur looking efforts during the “seven colours for seven days” era?
