RDS does not display for FBI on the Haval or on my DX setup so looks like FBI have switched it off.
To do a manual tune there are arrows on the screen left to manually tune down and right to tune up.
In the high spots around my location with good LOS in all directions I get full RDS decodes on all the high powered Sydney fm stations, CADA, C91.3 Central Coast Commercials and Wollongong i98 and Wave fm. It struggles to get the Sub metro communities except 2SWR.
It cannot receive Classic and JJJ Newcastle which the Tucson had no issues receiving at fair strength, and no chance of getting the Orange National fmâs and Eagle fm. They are all just completely muted.
Definitely will be getting this looked at for the first service as people have commented online about these issues and others havenât had issues,
The 2017 Hyundai Tucson did not have RDS but it had a very sensitive tuner that was great for dxing. This car has the worst fm reception of any car that I have ever owned. It is like the antenna is not even connected for fm.
A real pity. Probably more than just a poor antenna, more likely low quality tuner.
But yes mention the tuner at next service, maybe a firmware upgrade available that improves things.
I also found one of their tuners quite non intuitive.
Is your vehicle a 2025 model?
It is transmitting RDS, see the Sydney webservers. But FBi is using a non-compliant RDS PI code & thus most tuners wonât display their RDS as per design.
Yes that is what GWM have been doing according to the posts I have read.
AM reception is equivalent to my Hyundai and DAB+ is very good so I donât think it is a low quality tuner.
Our work trucks have poor quality tuners, AM reception is bad and DAB+ signals struggle in even the strongest of areas. On Fm reception is bad but not as bad as the Haval H6. Does not make sense.
Will let you know, only done 600km, have to wait to 10K.
Going down to Bowral next weekend for Tulip Time and will be able to test Fm reception and DAB+ outside of Sydney, and if any Canberra DAB+ up to the GIB. Should I post that here or in the DX thread?
Seems like you canât âhave it allâ with Haval after all..Jokes aside, whatâs the audio quality like with music, does it sound crisp and clear, good bass etc?
Hereâs the Sept 2025 Vehicle Tuner RDS List that occasionally gets posted in the RDS Thread.
[Sorry accidentally deleted]
If anyone has a Vehicle with an RDS radio tuner that doesnât feature in the above list AND they live in one of the following areas:
Sydney, Ballarat, Adelaide, Renmark, Victor Harbour or Mount Barker, then please let us know if your vehicle (make, model & year) decodes or doesnât decode the RDS of these FM radio stations:
Sydney: 94.5 FBi Ballarat: 102.3 3BA Adelaide: 100.5 WOW FM Renmark: 100.7 Life FM Victor Harbour: 89.3 Fleurieu FM Mount Barker: Lofty 88.9
First service 10K Kms or the 3/82026 which ever comes first.
Yes canât have it all,
Pros- 170KW 2.0 Turbo engine that runs on U91
More space and larger boot as we were outgrowing the Tucson with Teenage kids.
Great technology compared to Tucson
DAB+ radio that so far has great reception
Cons- poor fm reception and no DX opportunities as local signals, Central Coast and Illawarra / Wollongong signals struggle in areas that receive good signals.
Just back from the annual Tulip Time trip down to Bowral and got to test the new Haval H6 car radio between Sydney and the Southern Highlands. On DAB+ 9B Nova Nationâs reception was perfect until Pheasants Nest were it experienced a minor glitch. In comparison SRNâs DAB+ stations were glitchy from Bargo south. 9B Nova Nationâs reception was still perfect at the Old Hume Highway Mittagong turnoff, this is where we loose DAB+ reception on our work truck radios.
Reception was still pretty consistent in Mittagong with a few dropouts here and there. Bowral is where the signal failed with only patches of reception. @Dani-Chan is this consistent with your experiences?
On Fm reception was worse than the Hyundai Tucson as expected. In the Main Street of Bowral all Sydney fm stations, Illawarra Nationals and 2ST / Highlands fm scanned in but Power was quite weak. Eagle fm was also very weak and was being muted.
I did try for Canberra DAB+ up at the Bowral lookout but the car radio was unable to scan it, each scan just kept rescanning in the Sydney DAB+ stations.
I did manage to get the Canberra Fm stations at the Bowral lookout at the GIB even with RDS and when I tuned to 101.5 Triple J it AF to 105.7 Triple J Sydney, @ozbark you might find this interesting.
Summing up the GWM Haval H6 car radio Fm radio is nowhere as good as the tuner in my Hyundai Tucson but DAB+ reception is very good. I probably could get Canberra DAB+ reception from the Bowral lookout at the Gib if I had more time to play around and not having my family all sitting in the car giving me funny looks.
Very similar to my reception when I take the Sony out for a walk through a few streets in town, and yes there are drop outs here and there. The Town Centre it may be a bit patchy but I have not taken the Sony out for a walk with me since I got the TEF.
That is good to know that I am getting equivalent reception on the car radio. Pity about the fm but these days I am listening more to DAB+
BTW do you know where the sweet spot for Canberra DAB+ are at the Bowral lookout car park. The two places where I can get Reception on my portable is at the lookout platform and near the undercover picnic table.
I did a quick Nautel coverage map for minimum Canberra DAB+ reception 39dBuV and reception maybe possible along Sheepwash RD at Avoca, Exeter town centre. The most northern point for strong reception is the southern facing slope of the Hume Highway at Mt Gray.
ânot come standardâ just means thereâs a software defined radio and you pay the money to add a radio button to the touch screen.
The bill itself is just âTo require the Secretary of Transportation to issue a rule requiring access to AM broadcast stations in passenger motor vehicles, and for other purposes.â
So it wouldnât actually make a rule, just make a rule requiring there be a rule. They could skip a step here I thinkâŚ
Canât say Iâm surprised, a lot of the EVs have an extremely basic OTA radio and rather rely on Bluetooth streaming for the majority of audio input. My Polestar 2 is such an example, the FM radio sounds pretty crap and doesnât have much bandwidth compared to even my portable DXing set, and the Polestar doesnât have AM. My portable radio sounds better on AM than the Polestar does on FM, which IMHO does a disservice to analogue radio.
