This is why the HD channels should be on the main numbers, not 70 etc.
It’s 2020. I’m sure most people have MPEG4 now.
Whenever I setup a TV for someone I would modify the channels so HD is on the main SD channel number. You can do this on Sony and some other branded TVs.
I seem to remember, from one of the anniversary specials 10 made years ago, that they mentioned 10 had a policy of destroying/not keeping footage for a number of decades.
Meanwhile, if the networks did all eventually decide to relocate away from Mt Coot-tha, it would be nice if they kept one of the studios as a museum. I can’t imagine there would be too many original television studios left in the country once those three go…
The old BCM MCR, which by the looks of those monitors, isn’t really active much now (since NPC Media started operating in Sydney). I thought this entire set-up at Docklands would’ve been dismantled, wonder what they’re using it for now?
Since Seven Sport’s operations are based there, especially the AFL, maybe they use it/need it for broadcasting
Don’t forget Seven News Melbourne still comes out of that building. And other studio productions such as The Front Bar and Armchair Experts along with AFL panel shows such as AFL Gameday and Talking Footy if they ever come back next year. Most Seven Sport is still gatewayed through that building including AFL, Horse Racing and Cricket. Therefore a Master Control presence is still very much required at 7BCM. The only change is they no longer look after transmission, that was outsourced to the Nine/Seven JV NPC Media Pty Ltd last year.
Might have to apply for an interim heritage order so an in depth heritage assessment can be carried out on the site. That or we gather a posse of media spy nerds, meet at Willoughby and chain ourselves to the cottages so they can’t be demolished.
