@BJT2 No studio facilities there, just office space.
They only have sales, traffic and some production staff who work there now.

Where are the current news updates recorded from?
The updates and bulletin for the SCA Nine markets are done by the capital city Nine stations Sydney/Brisbane/Melbourne.
The SCA 7 Tasmania studios in Hobart and Launceston handle the Tasmania and Spencer Gulf bulletins, as well as the TDT-9 and SCA 7 Darwin and Central Updates.
I forgot to mention that the SCA Canberra office also houses the two reporters and camera operators for Nine Canberra, as all the local SCA offices in the other East Coast markets do.
Right. So this all moved to Tasmania. Thanks.
I am guessing now all the link trucks etc from the other states will be sent to Sydney and Melbourne ? Also will they dismantle all the studios and just use lipstick newsroom cams?
They’ll still need link trucks. Just no studio.
I don’t think they’ll do this - at least for a while yet.
We’ve seen local bulletins reinstated in Perth and Adelaide before.
Whose to say that won’t happen again say in 2022 when advertising revenues recover from the pandemic.
They will still need the studios to edit news footage and for local playout.
Yes, but not the on-screen studios. If you mean control room, then still no, because that’s done from the second control room in Melbourne.
Isn’t this already done out of Sydney now?
They have nothing to gain from dismantling the news presentation / studio, it’s not like they’re going to be out there auctioning up the desks and set for $$$.
Every station still uses them.
And while Dejeros are great and are getting better - they do not compare to a microwave or satellite link.
Yes
Been saying that for year, drop the 9!
The dots are more a point of difference, much like the worm logo for the ABC is.
Not to mention NINE on many regionals screens either on LCN8 or LCN5 apart from LCN9 in metro areas.
ABC and SBS are at loggerheads with Regional Broadcasters Australia over maintenance and repair charges for broadcast equipment, previously done for free, has led to more than 400 residents of Goulburn, NSW, not having access to the public broadcasters and threatens coverage across regional and remote parts of the country.
Win/Prime/SC et al would be just trying to get some $$$ from Aunty and SBS. Putting Aunty and SBS off air would also help boost the Commercial TV’s viewer numbers. Where RBA do put them off air, ABC and SBS should provide some funding to local councils to set up self help sites rather than give any $$ to the commercials.
Smells a bit like 7 & 9 booting 10 from Txa - 10 now has a much higher cost base than its competitors due to having to pay transmission charges, thus affecting its competitiveness.
Nine has submitted a development application to North Sydney council to install four satellite dishes and a DENG tower on the roof of 1 Denison St, North Sydney. Some excerpts from the DA:
There will be two UHF television antennas, one pointing north and one pointing south. Presumably this will be to receive the Wollongong and Newcastle/Central Coast stations.
And there will be a video camera for live shots of Sydney Harbour. The proposed camera is a Canon BU-47H. From the Canon website:
