ausbiz

Surprised this hasn’t been mentioned yet but it was announced a few days ago that a new streaming service/channel called ‘ausbiz’ will launch early next year. It’s designed to fill the void left by Your Money by be live 8 hours each weekday to cover business and market news which occurs during the trading day.

What’s noteworthy about this venture is who’s part of it. David Koch is the service’s chairman while several people associated with Your Money are also involved like Kylie Merritt, Nadine Blayney and Ingrid Willinge.

This service starts next month, and it will be available on “some of Seven’s digital platforms”, The Australian is reporting. I wonder if that means it will be a channel on 7Plus?

Wtf?

Literally the best way to burn some money.

David Scutt from SMH and Gemma Acton from Seven are joining ausbiz.

Would have been ideal to launch this now while the markets are crashing.

Those financially backing their vision (according to ASIC) include ex-St George CEO Jim Hazel, Adelaide Football Club chairman Robert Chapman (who clearly doesn’t mind investing in something started by the chairman of local rival Port Adelaide), Canberra family-run property developer BISA Property and Pocketbook founders Bosco Tan and Alvin Singh. And with a tiny 1 per cent stake: the still Washington-based Joe Hockey and wife Melissa Babbage, who put in $10,000.

ausbiz launches tomorrow morning at 10am AEDT. However, the channel had a ‘soft launch’ broadcast on Twitter this morning:

Supposedly this is airing on 7plus but I couldn’t find it.

Obviously was going to be a step down from the previous Sky News Business/Your Money production but more than I expected tbh. Audio is horrendous.

Content is good so hopefully the production side improves quickly.

Seems like (according to the press release Johnson linked to) that the channel is running a reduced offering for the first week and a bit before expanding their on-air hours so perhaps the 7Plus stream will be available when that happens

Agree with your observations - hopefully the issues are just teething problems which will be resolved as everyone gets into the swing of things

ScoMo’s press conference

ausbiz doing ok.

What appears to be a sample of their programs.

That 2nd clip isn’t a program but rather a preview they do each day on social media about the upcoming trading day
