Does Mix have any AFL coverage these days? Or is it impacted by the broader network decision to abandon networked coverage.
Reckon if there was a 3rd license up there, would be great for SCA to fill the FIFO/ footy loving market with TripleM.
ACMA and Grant were attempting to form some sort of JV in 2017 using DRMT -

Nope - that acronym in that doc is “DRMT” - Digital Radio Multiplex Transmitter (license). That’s the company that is formed to control the actual broadcast license for the DAB+ multiplex, with shares owned by each licensed operator and a representative of community radio.
In theory that was required for it to go from the trial license to the permanent license.
Makes sense.
Do they own the multiplex? Who is apart of it?
Yep, so that doc resulted in the eventual creation of “Digital Radio Broadcasting Darwin Pty Ltd” - of which Grant Broadcasters (via “Northern Territory Broadcasters Pty Ltd”) is the only shareholder. (mentioned near the bottom).
Ive been in Townsville over the last few days and loving the rock variety music on Power 100. It is a much better rock station then Triple M. I am finding the music on Triple M has become very repetitive. Ive notice they are flogging the crap out of INXS, Queen and U2.
Personally I would even pick Star FM over Hit FM. Star seem to have more variety then Hit.
It’s so weird Grant don’t make better use of the Power 100 log. Sure I can beat the dead horse about Krock - but it’d make more sense than “7HO River” on digital down in Hobart, being a bigger point of difference over their main 7HOFM format.
I dunno what he Grant/Capital separation is like when ownership isn’t shared on a station, but would be perfect complement to Snow FM on Canberra DAB too.
Louise Montafia has been appointed as the new GM for Star 102.7 & 4CA in Cairns, replacing Paul Woodhouse, who has taken up the GM position for Power 100 & Star 106.3 in Townsville. She will start on her new role from the middle of August.
Maybe that’s why jocks should really start using their real name on air…
I agree, Power 100 are way better than Triple M ,
Would be great if K Rock took that path. Would suit the name
Herbie was one of eight ladies vying for farmer Andrew’s heart, but was eliminated in last night’s season opener.
they used to rock from the time they started in 1990 (simulcasted some shifts and shows with Triple M when they were co-owned) until around 2008 when they flipped to their semi-current CHR format!
The weird thing is it means now you have Bay playing more rock than Krock - due to the networking. Heard Alien Ant Farm’s Smooth Criminal cover on Bay during their sports talk program - so much had to go wrong with formats for that to happen.
It’s a mess. It’s so pointless trying to do a middle of the road and a hit format in a market like Geelong which shares all the Melbourne stations. They need to be different as they’re competing directly with all the metro stations. It’s not like regional markets that have a monopoly on formats.
KROCK should go for a modern rock format and try and edge out MMM with a younger audience, and Bay should more better target an older audience that Gold has largely given up on.

7HO in Hobart are on the hunt for a new Content Director, as well as Regional Content Director for its Tasmanian stations.
Who was the 7HO PD? Who was the programmer in the north?
Mark Johnson.
