Yep, agree.
Are you choosing to ignore the post above yours?
Mark has worked for SCA for years up until recently. He would still have contacts there in the know.
Which was ill thought out by ARN management. Like I said, anyone who’s seen this kind of deal happen before knew early on it was dead in the water
Yeah I am, because I work at SCA currently (on LSL) so thus know more than he does.
This deal is like a relationship with a crazy woman. Off and on like her medication.
I dont think this is the end of it
Classic bit of sexism there for good measure
So was everything ready to go and then fell apart on Friday?
A lot of people knew before last week it was unlikely. But also as I said, basing on business experience of mine that it was less and less likely to happen as the weeks went by.
No disrespect to Mark, but the most vocal about thinking it was happening were former employees
Okay but how did you predict they’d pull out at the last minute though?
By all reports, it was literally ready to go this Tuesday.
How did you know they’d pull out last minute?
Did I ever say I did? I said anyone in the know (about business) knew it would fail, and as an SCA employee I had heard it was likely a few weeks ago
Okay, relax. Just trying to understand how people can have such differing information is all.
Where did Mark work? And which department? Because unless it was Sydney or Melbourne in management - he only knew rumours like most people
The messaging internally at ARN has been a world away from SCA. If you worked for the former, you probably assumed it was a done deal 3 months ago.
Have heard of ARN sales reps in regional markets telling clients that they’ll be selling all three/four stations in the market, or that they’re taking over Triple M… or (in some cases) that Triple M was taking over them. A total mess.
Yep, we’ve heard stories of staff in arn markets on the Gold Coast etc telling sca staff they’re “picking their offices” in their building. Pretty repulsive behaviour in general. Dont count your chickens before they hatch!
Also how unbelievably uninformed to think they’d hold on to all four? Shows how little they knew from day one
Sales reps are hardly the bastion of all knowledge, mind you.
I based my knowledge off staff from both SCA and ARN. Multiple sources said Monday 20 May was pencilled in for the announcement.
They are also still adamant that some sort of deal will progress.
I don’t work for either company anymore so I don’t have any skin in the game.
I’m having much more fun (and a sense of purpose) working in aged care these days. ![]()
Not to pile on you, but how? ARN don’t have the equity - do they have any other shareholders with a similar pull to Anchorage?
I think this is the death knell for SCA, they needed someone to save them and now its looking like the ship will sink. They’re loosing money hand over foot, firing people left right and centre, networking everything they can. I think the ship has sailed now for the company.
I dare say unless they get a buyer before years end, we will probably see administration and/or bankruptcy proceedings/receivership, and alot of the fat will be cut off, and even then may not survive.
If you’re a former SCA employee, you do have skin in the game. You would have been hoping for this. Which city/ market are your sources from?
